2040/41 Farewell
DeANDRE BROWN
From boyhood,
DeAndre Brown wanted to be a Villanova basketball player. The more we saw of him, the more we wanted him to be one, too.

DeAndre grew into a quick, powerful athlete who lettered nine times in three different sports in high school, and he was the valedictorian of his class at Pen Argyl High. He was crowned Pennsylvania's Mr. Basketball, beating out a big kid named
Chris Wilson, and played in the high school All-America Game.
When he arrived on campus, he discovered playing time was hard to come by; future pro draft picks
Dane Barlow and
Zayden Calhoun were the starting guards, and
Nick Spencer was also available. Patience paid off for DeAndre, however, and he became a more valuable member of our team with each successive year. He earned a starting position this year, and he grabbed it with both of his lightning-quick hands.
Those quick hands produced lots of steals. The three thefts DeAndre committed in the national championship game gave him 88 for the season, a new Villanova record.
I would have welcomed DeAndre back for a fourth season with open arms. He's decided to go pro, and I wish him well. He's been an excellent student, and there's a bright future ahead of him even if his basketball dreams don't continue to come true.
Thanks for the memories, DeAndre.
