Zayden Calhoun becomes the third player in Villanova history to be selected to the All American first team. It's hard to believe no Wildcat earned that honor until Mason Reynolds in 2036.
I'm delighted to see Tony Flaherty join Z as an All American, lining up besides James Sanders, Jr. in the second team frontcourt.
Maybe Tadgh Phelan realized he'd have a hard time forcing either Calhoun or Flaherty out of our starting lineup, and chose Georgetown for that reason. I'm not sure if the AI for recruits is sensitive enough to evaluate their potential for playing time as freshmen.

To nobody's surprise, Zayden and Tony are chosen for the All-Big East first team, too. We recruited all five of the first team players heavily enough for me to have posted their "hero cards" when they were high school seniors.
It's great to see our sophomores, Zak and Chris, earn post-season honors. For Chris, it's his second mention; he was on the Freshman Team last season. That's where Kai, our backup point guard, ends up this year.
And Graham's undefeated season in conference play earns him the Big East Coach of the Year award.
