I asked Chat GPT to make a treatment for a movie about such a wacky scenario, as a comedy. The president is portrayed as the good-guy protagonist - I did another one to make the president the bad guy, but, it was a little too on the nose and kind of depressing.
Spoiler
Logline:
When a notorious troublemaker and former congressman, Ted Johnson, is elected as the President of the United States while under house arrest, chaos ensues as he tries to run the country from the comfort of his own home, with unexpected results.
Act 1:
We open with Ted Johnson, a charismatic but controversial former congressman, being placed under house arrest for a string of wild and outrageous antics. Despite his predicament, Ted refuses to let his spirit be dampened and decides to run for President as a way to stay relevant. To everyone's shock, he actually wins the election, much to the dismay of his handlers and the Secret Service.
Act 2:
Ted's house arrest becomes the Oval Office, much to the chagrin of his uptight Secret Service detail and the amusement of his quirky neighbors. With the help of his loyal but eccentric staff, including his tech-savvy teenage niece and a conspiracy theorist mailman, Ted attempts to govern the country from the confines of his home. Hilarious mishaps occur as Ted tries to navigate important diplomatic meetings via Zoom, accidentally tweets sensitive information, and hosts impromptu press conferences from his backyard.
As Ted's unconventional methods start to yield surprisingly positive results, he gains popularity among the American public, much to the frustration of his political rivals. Meanwhile, Ted's exasperated Secret Service agent tries desperately to keep him out of trouble and uphold the dignity of the presidency, all while dealing with Ted's antics and the nosy neighbors who keep trying to peek over the fence.
Act 3:
As Ted's term comes to a close, he faces one last challenge: a high-stakes international crisis that threatens to derail his presidency and plunge the world into chaos. With the help of his unlikely team and a newfound sense of responsibility, Ted rises to the occasion and saves the day in a series of hilariously improbable events. In the end, Ted learns that being a leader isn't about where you are, but what you do, and he leaves office with the respect and admiration of the nation.
In a heartwarming finale, Ted removes his ankle monitor and bids farewell to his house arrest, ready to embrace whatever adventures lie ahead. As he steps out into the world, he knows that no matter where life takes him, he'll always be remembered as the president who served his country from home.
End of treatment.
