I know the gripes basically, in terms of the multi-culture evolution stuff, but at like $10 for the base (and under $30 with all the DLC to date ... except maybe one?) it kinda feels like we might get money's worth out of it even if it isn't the Civ-killer it was once touted as.

Not played it yet, but watched many streamer do it that likes the same kind of games I do. It came out at the same time as Old World, which I like a little better. For that price, its certainly worth a try,
