General Manager Notes: 2102, not our year?
Not totally unexpected, but still...

We're dropping hard. An attempt to tweak the offensive game plan has not resulted in progress. Our skill players can't get the job done in 2102 either. We fell 26-17 at home to the Paris Musketeers and 27-10 on the road at the Harlem Apollos.

European division:
1. Paris 5-3
2. Gothenburg 5-4
3. Bordeaux 4-4
4. Maassluis 2-6

So, tweaking the game plan, it's still not making Earnest Ashley become the quarterback that we've been hoping he could be. It's really sad to see his ability go to waste like that. The issue really isn't Calvin Maxwell, he's second in IHOF with 10.46 yards per target. Vinny Buysse though is unexplainably horrific with just 5.54 yards per target. This is the best WR2 in the league, supposed to be anyway. Ed Schulz is doing as he should, although dropping a lot of balls, he's top of the league at 19.28 yards per catch, that's really all we can ask for out of him. Garrett Alcala is still struggling with his underdeveloped route running and fellow third down tight end Darnell McKie has yet to get on the field on those downs where we could really use him.

"We suggest more testing"?

...

Anyway, we'll require more "back to the drawing board" regardless.

My comment from 2 game weeks ago holds up: the Maxwell and Torphy era is shaping up to be the opposite of what one would expect, this looks like it's going to the worst Merchantmen team ever, although their 8-8 rookie season might save them from that honor.

But at the same time, y'all know that we're not going the towel after just 8 games, optimistically we can still finish the season at 10-6, which should be good enough to make the post season. So, more of that drawing and less complaining. Let's go, team!
