How could you omit MAXIMUM FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!! (Edit: I see you added it in your later post)

I'll note at the outset that it might be worth considering specific years rather than a series, ie. NHL 94, NFL2k5, NBA Live 95, Madden 2004(?), etc. to determine the best sports video game of all time. Additionally, to avoid duplicates and depending on how long you want to stretch this out, you could have a selection process for each series. I'm not thinking a tournament, but rather a poll with say the consensus top 5-10 Madden's on it. Winner gets entered into the tournament as the Madden entry.

Additionally, I'll add these games/series as options (man, when counting your list and this, I've played a lot of different sports video games in my lifetime)...
