Week 4 Training Results

Overall this was a pretty disappointing week on the training grounds. None of our midfielder trainees showed any marked improvement this week, which comes as a bit of a surprise. We figured that a couple of them (Swiss 18-year-old Gino Behling in particular) were primed for a good week. I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer.

The one good piece of news this week is that two more players showed an increase in their experience levels this week:
-Goalkeeper Cornelius “Corny” Jernigan -> inadequate (5)
-Forward German Galvez -> poor (3)

Form Changes

3 players saw their form increase this week:
-Midfielder Milan Dufek -> solid (7)
-Forward Guido Metman -> solid (7)
-Winger Reg Nichols -> solid (7)

13 players saw their form remain the same this week.

6 players dropped in form this week:
-Defender Cameron “Big Mac” McDonald -> passable (6)
-Midfielder Javier Tejeda -> passable (6)
-Wingback Tyler Willard -> passable (6) (a two level decrease)
-Forward Johannes Henriksson -> inadequate (5)
-Forward Forrest “Gump” Tobias -> weak (4) (a two level decrease)
-Midfielder Rune Kolberg -> poor (3)

We’ve been flying high form-wise for the past couple of weeks, but now it looks as though we have come back to earth. Tyler Willard’s form drop isn’t as scary as it looks. Both he and Arlen “Headcase” Lucas have shown remarkably consistent form over the past few seasons, so we’re not really concerned.

What does concern us is the downward spiral that midfielder Rune Kolberg is on. The Norwegian has shown us very little since we brought him on board as one of our midfielder trainees, and we’re hoping that he doesn’t turn out to be a dud. We’re not rash enough to pull the trigger on him just yet, but will be watching him very closely.

In The Zone

Tyler Willard’s one-week stay at excellent (8) form is over, so we’re back to counting those players in solid (7) form. The good news is that this week there are ten of them:

Midfielder Gino Behling
Winger Walter Bosch
Midfielder Milan Dufek
Forward German Galvez
Goalkeeper Cornelius “Corny” Jernigan
Wingback Arlen “Headcase” Lucas
Forward Guido Metman
Winger Reg Nichols
Winger Ivan Richardy
Midfielder Jaimy van de Kerkhof

Form Dog

No surprise here, as reserve wingback Ben McMahon remains the club’s low man with wretched (2) form. I don’t suspect that will change for at least a couple of weeks, since we’ll be demolishing the North County Raiders next week and advancing to the 7th Round of the U.S. Open Cup. (No, this is not a prediction. I just feel like talking a little trash.)

Player Values

Average Player Value: $290,684 (-$2,737)
Total Player Value (22 players): $5,523,000 (-$52,000)

Assessed Value Milestones

$900,000+
-Wingback Arlen “Headcase” Lucas ($903,000)

$200,000+
-Winger Ivan Richardy ($210,000)
