2007 Pre-pre Season Report

I'm still entertaining the switching teams option while I go and sim the TCY season.

As expected, there are a TON of seed players available for free agency. Some will no doubt get tagged as franchise players, but for the most part, it's open season on these guys.

The following teams are offering GM jobs:

* Buffalo
* Chicago
* Denver
* Green Bay

Here's a brief analysis of each team:

Buffalo:

Stadium built in 1973, in "average" condition. Seats 75,300. No construction plans. Fan loyalty at about 30%. No support for new stadium. Only seed player is OJ Simpson - currently a free agent, but he can be tagged. $45 million in cap space. Franchise value at $392 million (bottom 3rd of the league). Roster rated 65, Economy rated 34, Stadium rated 13, Support rated 65.

Chicago:

Stadium built in 2003, in "good" condition. Seats 66,000. Fan loyalty at about 75%. Lots of remaining seed players - but none under contract. Walter Payton's skills have been severly diminished by injury. Jim Miller is still a decent QB. Lots of strength on defense - IF the free agents can be re-signed. Offense needs help either way. $61 million in cap space. Franchise value at $401 million. Stadium rated 27, Roster rated 0, Support rated 86, Economy rated 61.

Denver:

Stadium built in 2001. Seats 76,100 - "Very Good" condition. Fan Loyalty at about 60%. Only seed player is TE Shannon Sharpe - not under contract. AI has drafted pretty well on this team - lots of young talent on offense and defense. $38 million in cap space. Franchise valued at $419 million. Stadium rated 37, Roster rated 34, Support rated 79, Economy rated 34.

Green Bay:

Stadum built in 1957. Seats 71,000 - "Average" condition. No construction planned. Fan loyalty at 50%. Only seed player is LT Tony Mandarich - not under contract. Awesome QB prospect in Walt Church - appears under-utilized, but great potential. Some limited young talent elsewhere. $40 million in cap space. Franchise valued at $335 million - second to last in the league. Stadium rated 15, Roster rated 0 (???), Support rated 73, Economy rated 42.

And, of course, I should include our current situation:

Washington:

Stadium built in 1997. Seats 80,100 - Very Good condition. Fan loyalty at 100%. All seed players under contract. Roster is loaded. $21 million in cap space. Franchise is valued at $636 million - best in the league by $70 million. Stadium rated 50, Roster rated 100, Support rated 99, Economy rated 58.

I'll ponder the options while I sim the TCY season... feel free to share your thoughts.
