Riggins carried 24 times for 173 yards and 1 TD, averaging an unholy 7.2 yards per carry. He was also the Redskins leading receiver, with 5 catches for 51 yards.
Redskins QB Sonny Jurgenson was 16 of 20 for 180 yards and 2 TDs.
Patriots RB Van Kangas couldn't get going, carrying 18 times for just 40 yards. QB Owen Hunter was 21 of 38 for 260 yards and 1 TD, but was sacked 4 times by the stifling Redskins defense. Somehow, this performance earned him game MVP honors.
