Well, she's doing better now. After colic surgery, the hardest part is getting the horse to stand up without freaking out and breaking a leg or busting a stitch or something - which she did just fine. The other thing to worry about is whether or not the intestines start working again after basically shutting down (apparently, horse intestines are supposed to be constantly moving - vets know there's a problem when they can't hear anything with a stethoscope). So far, there's been very little noise in the small intestine area, and that needs to improve. Once that happens, she's pretty much out of the woods, and I can stop paying for her stay at the equine ICU at UC Davis.
