Dolphins Gun Down Bills 20-10

Who is Edwin Mummert?

With All-Pro QB Dan Marino out for the season, the Miami Dolphins turned to the unheralded 7th round draft pick from Eastern Michigan to lead them through the playoffs. Mummert stepped up and completed 22 of 34 passes for 183 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT.

The Dolphin's defense shut down the Bills only offensive weapon, keeping O.J. Simpson to just 48 yards on 23 carries.

Patriots Hunt Down Chiefs 31-19

Patriots QB Owen Hunter passed for 134 yards and 3 TD's in a dominating victory over the Chiefs.

The Chiefs managed only one touchdown against a clearly superior New England defense.

The Saints Go Marching Home; Niners Beat New Orleans 27-17

San Francisco QB Joe Montana was 20 for 30 for 253 yards and 2 TD's in the 49er's victory over New Orleans. RB Roger Craig had 94 yards on 24 carries.

Saints QB Luther Twisp was 20 for 34 for 259 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs, one of which was returned 89 yards for a touchdown. New Orleans was unable to run the ball effectively, and RB Andrew Cote was held to 28 yards on 11 carries.

Redskins Beat Vikings In OT, 26-23

A late field goal by Redskins kicker Lou Groza tied the game with 55 seconds to go, and sent the game into overtime. The Redskins won the toss, and drove the ball 69 yards before Groza connected again to give the Redskins their first playoff victory in team history.

Redskins QB Sonny Jurgenson was 24 of 39 for 321 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. WR Art Monk was his favorite target, with 7 catches for 143 yards.

Vikings QB Sean Salisbury limped through a groin injury and completed 28 of 45 passes for 383 yards and 2 TDs.
