There's a names database that the game uses to generate player names. If the name of the player is something obscure, the draft editor won't accept it. I give the player a generic name (and make a note of it, so I know who it is), and then after I import the draft in FOF4, I can go in and change the name back to the originally suggested name.

So, in the game, you'll see the exact names. The changed names notation is more for my benefit.
