The Die Has Been Cast
As of this morning, Herschel Meek has been sold for to a team in, where else, Sverige. Meek was a 28yo unpredictable middie who got us 3.5 to 4.0 stars per game and helped power our midfield this year. However, with the quick progress of 18yo UberTrainee(TM) Thomas Little, Meek's time was up in Houston. He was purchased last offseason as a stopgap measure until the UberTrainees were ready and his veteran leadership helped the team greatly down the stretch as he scored 9 of the last 15 goals this season. He understood that if he stayed, it would be in a greatly diminished role and chose instead, when management approached him, to go to another team and help them in a greater capacity. He was purchased for under $130K and sold for $286K.

Next season, the Hippos will possibly play both wings and midfielders offensive for the first time (with the extra middie staying back, of course). This also means, we'll be in the market for a new UberTrainee(TM) as Little joins the starting ranks. That $1.5M sitting in the bank, primarily from the sales of Daniel Storm and Meek, will certainly come in handy.
