Most (nearly all) SABR-inclined guys will tell you it's nuts to pinch hit a .750 OPS player with a .600 OPS guy just because the former is 1-12 in his career against a particular pitcher and the latter is 3-7. They don't even know or understand what they are objecting to. They should hire Joe Morgan away from the Reds as a consultant.

I agree with sample size, but even his example has him playing a guy that could have been 4-16 with seven strikeouts.
