He didn't eliminate "touchtone." Alas, it seems that perhaps you don't
get the solution after all. Maybe that's why you didn't like the puzzle, then.
Look in Vince's "solution" grid above... and see if you can tell how he got from the first row to the second (the context clues lead up to it, if needed). It wasn't by
eliminating anything.
