This has been a popular story lately and I get a little bit of a kick out of it. One thing to note is this article is a little misleading. It focuses on the issues he has had, but a few things to note is he personally hasn't had to be responsible for any of the debt that others caused by stealing his identity. Yes, it did create other victims (such as AT&T which was cited in this article), but doesn't appear to have hurt him any. The other thing that I did not see this article mention is aside from these 13 known cases , there might be other unknown cases of identity fraud yet to be reported. There were reportedly several thousand cases of attempted stolen identities that were blocked by lifelock however. So in a way it has been a good example of how his service did protect him.

I still think it is a bat-crazy idea for him to publish his SS number like he did though.
