Normally, the path south would be a good plan to get straight to Fort Amber, but perhaps in this case, Alzar should go down a few miles, and then take a less used westerly track to Ghiarathor, and then turn south from the village and skirt around the main round. It sounds like good advice. Burne also says, Besides, Ghiarathor is an interesting town, you may like it.
And with that, they decide to do that. They leave Hommlet bound for Fort Amber, and publicly state their destination along the main road, but then quickly veer off west for about 12 miles until they reach Ghiarathor.
