The kid did nothing deserving of getting yelled at, let alone yelled at by some stranger walking past the house.

Well.......
I bet the kid will never yell "hey doggie" again, so you could argue that DT taught him something.
And at 4 years old, I heard words that were far, far worse than "hell" so it's not like DT is doing some irrevocable damage to his virgin ears.
