You have to realize that these people (myself included) have actively spent time
seraching for music that they enjoy. It's almost something of a hobby. For a lot of people, it just comes on tv or the radio or something, and they just say "I like that" or "I don't like that.".
If you say "I liked American Idiot" and I tell you you're a fool, then go ahead and ignore me. If you say the same thing and I tell you to enjoy it, but I've found something more interesting to me, then you gotta play fair and say "Okay, since I'm not willing to invest any time in finding out about any of that music, I should probably just stand by in silence as the arts pass me by."
