Yeah, I guess you have to do something. The Oilers lack a truly deadly offensive forward and don't really seem to have that many really good defensive forwards either. So, they can't form a potent scoring line or a good shutdown line, so they are making 4 lines that can kinda-sorta do a little bit of both.

I guess the plan is to try and nibble teams to death. Interesting...
