US fans are going to have to be content with continuing to be a big fish in our small pond, laying the occasional egg and putting together a big match every now and then. More teams are being added to MLS every season and the sport is growing domestically. Moving up the global ranks will take time, but we are moving in the right direction. Lest we forget, it was less than 20 years ago that the US finally returned to the World Cup for the first time in 40 years.

Interesting article that asserts the same idea. I agree, that our talent just isn't there yet to expect consistent competitive results.
