The one thing is that driving in any major racing series does take a lot out of your body and your mind. Driving 400-500 miles, 36 races a year, for 3 to 5hours a hour, plus all the practice and testing, at speeds that can peak to 180 mph, does require a certain strength and stamina. It might not be the same type of requirements that a NFL or MLB player might need, but you do need certain physical skills.

The Cup and F1 drivers work pretty hard to keep themselves in condition.
