Milestones

Aside from winning the Big East, going undefeated, and winning the National Championship, there are some indivudal accomplishments to acknowledge and celebrate.
  • Team Record - Single game
  • We racked up 580 total yards against Connecticut, beating our record of 577 vs. Syracuse in 2009
  • Individual Record - Single game
  • Junior RB Claude Altenburger became the first Rutgers back ever to score 4 rushing touchdowns in one game. He eclipsed records by himself, Malcolm Newton (2004), Jermaine Pierce (2002), Carlton Duncan (2007, 2008), and Ross Lincoln (2008, 2010)
  • Team Records - Season
  • We averaged 156.7 yards rushing per game, breaking our prior mark of 143.3 from 2002, my innaugural season.
  • We averaged 441.2 total yards per game, 27 better than last years record mark of 414.2
  • We allowed less yards per game than ever, a mere 277.3, about 6 yards better than last years mark of 283.1
  • Individual Records - Season
  • RB Claude Altenburger set new records for rushing touchdowns (15) and yards per carry (5.5)
  • WR B.J. Durham caught a record number of touchdown passes (12) beating WR Duane Wheeler's record of 11 from 2009.
  • Safety Van Schulz caught a team-record 9 interceptions this year, beating the prior record of 7. The former record was held by both Van himself and Steven Brewster (2008).
  • RB Claude Altenburger scored a total of 17 touchdowns, 1 more than Ross Lincoln's 2008 record.
  • Individual Records - Career
  • Safety Van Schulz set both the Rutgers and Big East record for career interceptions with 20. The former Big East record was 19 by Tracy Wilhite of Pitt. The former Rutgers mark was 12 by Kent Sawyer (2004-2007).
  • RB Claude Altenburger has already surpassed the Rutgers career record for rushing touchdowns. His current 31 surpassed Ross Lincoln's mark of 27.
  • Tackle Kurt Perkins is the new Rutgers career leader in key run blocks. His 113 best the former record of 102 by Raymond Matthews.
  • Safety Vince Alston leaves Rutgers with 38 passes defensed, surpassing Cedric Wolfe's mark of 30 (2008-2011).
  • RB Claude Altenburger is Rutgers all-time leading touchdown scorer (37). The former record was held by Ross Lincoln, who left last season with 32 touchdowns.
