Quentin had a hot month, but then struggled with injuries and consistency for over a year. He was going to be part of the Haren deal, but Oakland wanted someone from Chicago instead, so the DBacks sent him to the Sox and used that player in the Haren deal.
I've always liked him, but he had some injury concerns, his FA clock was ticking and he wasn't going to play over Chris Young, Upton or Byrnes - so they dealt him.
