2012 Offensive Depth Chart
Code:
Player # Pos Elig Current Future
Duffy, Seth 7 QB Sr* 81 95
Sutton, Sean 1 QB Sr 42 75
Dimry, Thomas 5 QB Jr* 31 60
Rodgers, Everett 3 QB* Jr* 22 36
Meadows, Joe 15 QB So* 33 91
Duffy is cleary the starter here, and has the real opportunity for a
Heisman Trophy before he leaves after the 2013 season. Sean Sutton has
settled into the backup role, and it suits him well. Sutton will come off
the bench in emergency situations. Behind the top two we have three
different QB's vying to be the future starter. While Joe Meadows has the
best chance of eventually becoming starter, he'll be buried at #5 this
season.
Player # Pos Elig Current Future
Altenburger, Claude 21 RB Sr* 75 75
Burton, Jon 41 RB Sr* 72 72
Schulz, Christian 30 RB Sr* 65 78
Devine, Graham 24 RB* Jr* 26 45
Tucker, Dale 22 RB* Sr 13 13
Frasier, Gerald 39 RB Fr 37 82
Tomlinson, Bryant 42 FB Jr* 42 77
Houston, Kennedy 32 FB* So* 17 51
Fleming, Robert 86 FB* Sr 5 5
Burton, Shawn 28 FB* Fr 14 38
You can't help but smile when looking at the top 3. Altenburger will
offically be starter until he is injured or is outperformed. Burton and
Schulz will get plenty of carries in a rotation, and Burton will probably
see some time returning kicks and deep at receiver. Gerald Frasier will
develop into a pretty good back in a few years, and will red-shirt in
2012. Fullback is of litte importance (since it's not part of the
offense), so Bryant Tomlinson will probably be a reserve Tight End and
special teams player.
Player # Pos Elig Current Future
Buckner, Eddie 82 TE Jr* 44 44
Maloney, Deon 85 TE* Sr 43 43
Yonney, Byron 80 TE Sr* 40 42
Corley, Johnnie 25 TE* Sr 11 11
Rubini, Desmond 99 TE Fr 18 84
Tight End is a position where we are eternally questing for a truly
standout performer. Buckner will probably disappear on the field, and
even the future is suspect. While Desmond Rubini has promise, it will
probably be nothing more than that - he is really lacking immediate
skills and won't make a dent until his third season at earliest.
Player # Pos Elig Current Future
Patrick, Daniel 8 WR Jr* 35 93
Kay, Wesley 9 WR Sr* 47 65
Durham, B.J. 83 WR So* 34 61
Arnold, Kelvin 84 WR Fr 32 48
Cassidy, Kirk 88 WR So* 27 95
Herndon, Brock 6 WR Jr* 15 15
Perez, Melvin 87 WR* Fr 19 53
Wide Receiver is a bit sub-standard for my tastes, but at least we make
up for it with interchangeable depth. Patrick can be a pretty nice
player if he can avoid injury. Freshman Kelvin Arnold is ready to go,
and we'll keep him active this season to provide depth (which I know we
will eventually need).
Player # Pos Elig Current Future
Dotson, Deron 50 C Sr 69 77
Nordby, Travis 58 C So* 19 97
Morris, Tyrone 52 C* Sr 35 35
Fox, Ralph 51 C* So* 21 64
Pierce, Ernie 74 G So 28 55
Peterson, Craig 73 G* Sr* 5 13
Osborne, Levon 60 G* Jr* 8 10
Nunn, Kim 68 G* Sr* 0 20
Logan, Casey 67 G Fr 15 63
Griffith, Antoine 78 G Fr 8 80
Shon, Ethan 65 G* Fr 14 45
Perkins, Kurt 63 T Sr 85 85
Woods, Jackie 77 T Jr 69 78
Gourdine, Dale 61 T Sr* 70 70
Fontenot, Bryce 76 T So* 27 49
Wilkins, Fred 62 T* Jr* 31 40
Prescott, Herb 64 T Sr 2 35
Barraza, Ernie 70 T Fr 34 71
We're currently solid at center, but the future isn't so bright. Travis
Nordby has a long way to go before being as good a player as Deron Dotson.
At Guard we're also dangerously thin. Ernie Pierce will probably start, but
we're going to have to play a Tackle in the other Guard slot in order to
help us this year and better develop him for the future.
Tackle is loaded! Perkins is a monster, and Woods and Gourdine are pretty solid,
one of them will slide over to guard for the year. Ernie Barraza has a very
bright future, but needs a year of red-shirting.
Player # Pos Elig Current Future
Albo, Cornelius 10 P So 68 68
Gaines, Frankie 14 P* Jr* 2 19
Jones, Adrian 2 P* Fr 13 55
Ballard, Vinny 11 K Jr* 39 60
Roset, Robbie 17 K* Fr 9 9
Albo is the man at punter, and Ballard will handle the kicking. We need a
future kicker.
