w00t! Canes swept the Canadian portion of the road trip with a 3-1 win in Montreal tonight. Now it's on to Philly and Pittsburgh for a pair of back-to-backers before returning home. Very good showing so far, though. Carolina's now got a three-point lead already in the Southeast.
One very big positive has been Cam Ward. He didn't live up to expectations last year after winning the Conn Smythe during the Cup run, but he's clearly recommitted himself here in the early going, posting a 1.99 GAA and .939 save percentage in four games played, all of which earned at least a point for Carolina (3-0-1). Much has been made of the fact that he dropped 20 lbs in the offseason and so far it seems to be to good effect.
