I am in no means being critical of the pic or of the artist and their effect on that genre. I would have never listened to a rap song at the point I was at in the early 90's.

And I didn't think you were. I'm rather certain I have never heard "Rapper's Delight" all the way through, I'm just quite aware of it. "Walk This Way" was originally an Aerosmith song (could've been used in Covers I think) and was and has been heavily rotated ever since.
