The problem with Astro City has been its intermittent publishing schedule due to Busiek's other committments and (I believe) health problems at one point. Most if not all of the earlier stories have been collected in graphic novel form though, and probably can be read out of order without much confusion.

Busiek's doing a good run on the Conan books.
