CURRENT TOP TEN PROSPECTS IN THE UNIVERSE

1. SP Jose Gonzalez (Good/Brl/Brl,4/7/5,23yo,Flo,AAA)—He was the 1(19) pick in 2003. He is injury prone, and missed 15 weeks in AA last year with three different injuries. He was 6-3 with a 2.09 ERA in 10 starts at AA.
2. SP Teddy Chiasson (Good/Brl/Brl,3/4/6,22yo,KC,AA)—Chiasson was the 1(15) pick in ’03. He started 26 games in A-ball last year, and put up a 13-3 record, with a 2.35 ERA, and 248 K’s in 168 1/3 innings.
3. CF Joshua Laux (Good/Brl/Good,4/5/5,19yo,PHI,AAA—Laux was the 1(1) pick in 2005. He batted .257 with 13 homers in 331 AB’s at AAA last year.
4. 2B Daniel Ector (Good/Brl/Brl,5/5/8,22yo,HOU,MLB—Ector, drafted 1(1) in 2004, was called up to the bigs last year. He had 86 at bats, and batted .174. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he’ll play every day, as the Astros have a 6/10/7 guy as their starting 2B.
5. SP Raul Gimenez (Good/Brl/Good,7/7/6,22yo,CIN,AAA—He was 2002’s 1(11) pick. Gimenez as 9-5 with a 3.77 ERA last year in his first season at AAA.
6. [CF Mckinley “Blue” Stair (Good/Avg/Brl,3/3/7,21yo,CLE,AA)—The 1(2) pick in ’04, Stair was hitting .350 in A-ball last year when he got called up to AA, where he batted .271 with a .732 OPS.
7. SP Scott Bigham (Good/Good/Brl,0/3/5,19yo,LA,A)—Bigham was the 1(27) pick last year. He had a rough year, going 3-7 with a 5.55 ERA in 15 starts.
8. SP Edward Liss (Good/Brl/Good,5/6/5,24yo,PIT,AA)—Liss was the 1(26) pick by SF in ’01. He’s been traded twice. It took him four years to get it together in A-ball, but he posted a 2.74 ERA at that level in ’04. Last year in AA, he was 13-5 with a 2.47 ERA. He is starting the year in AA again, but he looks to be soon ready for AAA.
9. SP James Struthers (Good/Good/Brl,7/6/6,23yo,PIT,AAA—Struthers was 8-7 with a 3.38 ERA in AAA last year. He was the 1(4) pick in ’04.
10. SP Antonio Navarro (Good/Avg/Brl,7/6/7,23yo,DET,AAA—This kid started ’05 in AA, but ended up getting some time in the Bigs by the end of the year. He was 8-3 with a 2.66 ERA in 15 starts in AA, and had a 5.14 ERA in 7 IP in MLB. He starts the year in AAA. He’s a 1(28) pick from 2002.
