April

Only three AL teams had winning record in April, led by the San Francisco White Sox with a 18-10 mark. They are in first place by 1 game over the Philadelphia A’s and 3 games over the Red Sox. In the NL, the Cubs and Pirates are tied for first with records of 18-10 as well. The Dodgers, Phillies and Cardinals are 2 back. The rest of the field is playing themselves out of this early on.

May

The AL has a tie for first after 2 months. The mighty Red Sox and the forever second place Waves are 31-25 and hold a 2 game lead over both the A’s and the White Sox. The Naps are just 3 back. The Waves are easily the best franchise to never make the playoffs. They have been in second place for what seems like forever.

In the NL, the Cardinals hold just a 1 game lead over the Dodgers, and 2 games over the Pirates. Still hanging around are the Phillies and Cubs.

June

Boston remains in a tie for first place, but now it is the San Francisco White Sox who are their with them. The Naps are 2 back and the Waves are 3 back at the All-Star break. In the NL, the Dodgers have surged up the standings to claim a 3 game lead over the Cardinals The Pirates are 5 back.

The AL defeated the NL, 11-9 in the All-Star game. Mike Gonzalez was 3 for 5 with 5 RBI and a 3 run homerun and earned MVP honors.

July

The White Sox have really pulled away in the AL, compiling a 64-43 record and holding an 8 game lead over the Waves. In the NL, Brooklyn is clinging to a 2 game lead over the Cardinals. The Cubs and Pirates are 7 back, and unless one of them gets red hot, they are not a threat.

On July 7, Cincinnati’s Harry Weaver threw a no-hitter against the Giants. He struck out three and walked 2 in the 5-0 victory.

August

The White Sox hit a month long slump, and while they are still in first, the Waves are just 3 games back, while the Red Sox and Tigers are right behind. In the NL, the Cardinals moved into first place by 3 games over the red hot Cubs. The Dodgers are still alive, only 4 games back.

On August 25, Tris Speaker, of the LA Waves notched his 3000th career hit on a bloop single in the bottom of the 7th inning.

September 27, 1924

The San Francisco White Sox clinch the AL. The Waves got to within one game in September, but could never get over the hump, and will once again finish in second place. In the NL, The Cardinals are about to clinch.

October 1, 1924

The St. Louis Cardinals have clinched the NL.

World Series

The Series opens in St. Louis and the Cards win game 1, but the White Sox come back and blank the Cards, 4-0 to tie the Series up heading to San Francisco.

The White Sox win game 3 in extra innings, but the Cards tie it up at 2 in by taking game 4.

The White Sox win game 5 to take a 3-2 edge heading back to St. Louis.

St. Louis wins game 6, 5-3 to set up a final Game 7!

The Cardinals jump out to an early 3-0 lead, and then add on three more. They hold off a White Sox charge late in the game to win 6-4 and win the Championship! The win is the Cardinals 3rd, tied for most with the Giants. They also stopped the White Sox from being the first repeat champs.

Champion Review

The Cardinal pitching was less than stellar this year. It was a real offensively dominated season. Their best pitcher was 2 time Cy Young winner Pat Bohen. He went 16-8 with a 4.10 ERA.

CF Les Mann was the man, batting .339 with 22 homeruns. SS Aaron Ward batted .322 with 14 homeruns. 1B roy Leslie batted .347 and hit 12 homeruns.

League Outlook

The Atlanta Braves have hit rock bottom and have been sold to a man from Dallas, TX. The team will begin play this coming season in Dallas, and be known as the Dallas Braves. It is the second move for this cursed franchise.

Every other franchise is doing FANtastic, and our future plans include expansion and a move to 4 divisions and an extra round of playoffs.

Free Agency, of Note

Not a great market for teams in need of some talent, but there were a couple signings.

SP Irv Lange (G/B/B) signed up with the Cincinnati Reds.

3B Joe Evans (G/A/A) signed with the Cleveland Naps.

The Cardinals improved their rotation by signing SP Dave Davenport (G/G/G).

The Reds got another SP, Lefty Tyler (G/B/B)
