not too hard for me. hatehate bon jovi. altho the jocks and jerks of high school may have scarred me past ever liking them. I do like the Deadliest Catch theme but other than that I can't take them seriously (You give love a bad name, Bad Medicine...)

I would have voted for anyone against the Gorillaz.

That was one I had tabbed as a possible upset, but wasn't sure how many folks know a lot of Iggy's stuff. I went Bon Jovi only because I like his stuff with the Stooges better, but I went back and forth a lot.

I really dislike Bon Jovi. They were my forst concert though. They opened for The Scorpions.

And I see George Thorogood is going to join Ted Nugent. Thorogood is awesome.

Cheap Trick, just hoping they get past a round or two. One of the more underrated bands in rock IMO. Great live and a huge influence on so many bands.

Their latest release which just came out is pretty solid too. Reminds a lot me of their late 70's stuff.

Long overdue and very happy. But even better was the fact that Bun E played with them that night. That was the right way to do it and I am glad they put the differences aside to go in together, as they should have.

That's about how I feel about Dave Matthews Band.

Cheap Trick vs George Thorogood is just a silly decision to have to make.

The Lovin' Spoonful get a brutal draw as well, though I do have to say they were probably never getting out of the second round anyway.

The Mamas and the Papas vs BTO is perfectly seeded and matches that 7-10 matchup in the NCAAs where it's a coin flip and they're both losing to the #2 seed next round anyway, but it should make for a good game.

Mammas Vs Bachman was the hardest vote for me. Voted Bachman, would probably vote the other way in a few minutes.

I like many of CT's more obscure songs as much as the hits. One of their more underrated songs.

Dave Matthews Band is the worst thing ever to happen to music. He's my reference point for what I like to call "shitty college music"

Yuss. When I went back to college a few years ago I was amazed at the number of young folks that STILL identify with DMB.

One of easiest rounds (rock or movies), except for one pass. No way I would vote for the Doors but couldn't go with a protest vote on a band I never heard of.

Fun trivia: I appeared in an obscure documentary about Cheap Trick and garage bands.

I agree with you, one of my all-time top 10 bands. You and I are close in age so no surprise there.

For the record, I absolutely hated picking against Cheap Trick, and may well swap to them once they advance. But I love me some George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

Maybe it's recency bias, Iggys newest album is way more relevant and original than Bon Jovi's, which sounds like warmed over, recycled crappy pop rock from some shitty movie.

Been a long time since I've had any love for anything coming out of the Bon Jovi camp ... but that's still an easy call since it's been pretty much never that I gave even half a shit about anything musically out of Iggy Pop.

He's an okay meme, but that's about it.

Dominoes was my protest vote against Styx.

The Doors & Gorillaz was tough for me, but the Mamas & the Papas are the only other group on this list I would actually choose to listen to.

I never understood the absolute hatred of Dave Matthews. Altho at one time I recall him being on EVERY station all the time because he fits so many formats.

It's the other end of the nostalgia votes. While most of this forum has love for the 70s rock bands, a lot of folks that grew up in the 80s have fond memories of Bon Jovi. "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Livin' on a Prayer", and "Wanted Dead or Alive" (yes, I realize they are all from one album) are like the songs of my people.
