2010 NCAA Frozen Four

RIT in the Frozen Four? Didn't see that coming.

Miami(OH) vs Michigan and Yale vs Boston College should be real good games today. Both are going to be on ESPNU or ESPN360.

I like the favorites in those games but both looked a bit shaky in the first round. Miami let Huntsville hang around and Fairbanks actually had long stretches of that game where they were outplaying BC.

I'm a little sad St. Cloud and Bemidji didn't advance as they are both in my alma mater's conference in other sports and always good to bring attention to those schools.

So much parody in the sport nowadays.

Go Miami!

claphamsa 03-28-2010 09:01 AM

LETS GO REDSKINS!

Im not sure they let Alabama hang around... they absolutely dominated the game... just didnt blow them out score wise.

Sublime 2 03-28-2010 09:51 AM

University of No Hardware. Been throwing that in my girlfriend's face all day. Though I'd like to see them win about 100x more than BC.

Go Yale!

As a Miami alum last year's title game was gutwrenching to watch. It would make a great story to come back this year and win it all after last year but for whatever reason, it's just doesn't feel right this year.

bronconick 03-28-2010 12:04 PM

If it was any school aside from Michigan, their tear from 7th in the CCHA with a walk-on goaltender, knocking off rival Michigan State, eliminating them from NCAA contention, followed by a CCHA playoff title and a regional final matchup vs. a Miami team they beat a week ago, it'd be a Disney movie.

Since it's Michigan, it's like watching Cinderella, but knowing she's a whore with 5 kids, venereal diseases and using her welfare check for cigarettes.

So, go Miami!

(And please, let my Broncos get their coaching hire right!)

SackAttack 03-28-2010 01:58 PM

Was Wisconsin's game last night not part of the tournament or something?

How has Cody Reichard been doing this year?

I was never friends with him but he went to the same High School as me. Same year. Had the whole town glued to the tourny last year.

claphamsa 03-28-2010 03:10 PM

he was the CCHA player of the year. and is a hobey baker finalist

Scoobz0202 03-28-2010 03:17 PM

It's weird. ESPN implied it was part of the tournament, but...either it wasn't, or it's not the Frozen Four just yet, but the round of 8 finishing up.

SackAttack 03-28-2010 03:21 PM

Dola,

Yeah, I apparently misunderstood the thread title. RIT and Wisconsin both advanced to the Frozen Four last night. Today's games are the other half of the bracket.

Fully expect Miami to win tonight but I'm glad for Hunwick. I've known him for quite a while and he's always been a solid goalie but his size worked against him.

As a Michigan fan I just feel like this bubble has to burst eventually and Miami is the most well rounded team in the country. Can't wait to watch it though since it ought to be a good game.

DeToxRox 03-28-2010 07:13 PM

BC beat Yale 9-7 lol. Christ.

DaddyTorgo 03-29-2010 01:21 PM

WOOHOO!!!

GO BC!!!!!

If we could just get a better goaltender (Muse is horribly weak high, but a stonewall low) I'd feel a lot better about our chances...but hey...at least we're still in it.

And we can outscore anybody in the country. I like our chances for another banner.

claphamsa 03-29-2010 01:42 PM

i like your chances to get PWND next week :)

claphamsa 03-29-2010 01:43 PM

dominating wins today by Wisconsin and BC. It's going to be one hell of a game on Saturday night - hopefully we can get revenge for 2006.

Can't believe we beat Miami 7-1 when Miami was the #1 defensive team with the 2 best goalies in the country. Absolutely sick.

Stupid coaching...changing a routine you have used all season...just dumb.

Michigan lost- Yay
Western seemed to bring in a good coach- Yay
Fellow MAC brethren Miami letting me down Thursday> Boo

I don't think I care who wins tonight. I just hope they never do the Frozen Four in a farking football stadium again, especially with crappy, designed for basketball temporary risers. They should have made someone in Detroit do a practice run on this before they gave them the bid.

mckerney 04-10-2010 08:13 PM

Wooo 3-0 BC!

DaddyTorgo 04-10-2010 08:55 PM

HELL YEAH!!!!

BC won its fourth title and third since 2001, best in the nation over the last decade.

"We wanted to attack and be aggressive," York said. "We don't like to sit back and change our style of play with the score."
That mindset has helped put York in elite company with four national titles, including one with Bowling Green.
Just two coaches have more championships -- Michigan's Vic Heyliger won six from 1948-56 and Denver's Murray Armstrong had five from 1958-1969 -- and no one has more than York's 33 wins in the NCAA tournament.

WOOOO!!!
