OT: Silly game reviewers
From the June 2003 issue of Computer Gaming World:
Ten Years Ago, June 1993
The seeds of the present-day dearth of PC sports games planted were apparently planted a decade ago. Thumb through the June 1993 issue and you'll find all sorts of sports games - every misbegotten one of them text-based. Final tally: two hockey games, one basketball game, two soccer games (one of which includes ASCII-based replay), and a greyhound-racing management sim. Ten years later, a nation wonders, "Whither the next great dog-racing sim?"
Yeah, where is Greyhound 3 anyway? :D
Anyway, our writer (doesn't say who wrote it) has a point about today's sports games, but to blindly dismiss a group of games just because they're text-based is just wrong.
I'm preaching to the choir, of course, so can I get an amen? :)
