Google Maps Game - The Ten-A-Day Version
 

This game is a spin-off of the Google Maps Game. Thanks to MJ4H for bringing it to FOFC. Solecismic put out the idea of a Ten-A-Day version, Shkspr added some ideas, and I took off and ran with it.

So we have:

Google Maps Game - The Ten-A-Day Version

The rules:

1. Poster posts 10 Google maps images.
2. The 10 images will have some sort of "theme" that ties them all together.
3. They will be from locations with identifiable landmarks. They can be obscure, but not to the point that there is no identifiable landmark (i.e. we don't want some random house on some random street). Variety is encouraged.
4. Contestants have 24 hours to submit their answers.
5. Contestants may use all available resources to identify the location.
6. Each image is worth 100 points. Points will be awarded based on 100/(Correct Entries). For instance, we have 10 contestants. All 10 get image A correct, they each get 10 points. Only 5 get image B right, each of those 5 get 20 points.
7. All determinations of "correct answers" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the Poster of each round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. The posers decisions are final and utterly inarguable, no exceptions.
8. Collaboration of any kind is strictly forbidden. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. Just don't be a douchebag.
8. Each contestant must submit an image (or if you're graphically/time challenged, a link to a Google maps search) that fits into the overall theme of the 10 images.
9. In the case of a tie, the submitted image will be the tie-breaker. The Poster gets to decide which image of the tied contestants fits the "best".
10. The winner gets to post the next entry.
11. If the winner takes more than 72 hours to post the next entry, the runner-up may assume the responsibilities.

I had a mistake on #1. It was from when I started a different theme, and even though Paint asked me if I wanted to overwrite it, it didn't actually overwrite it.

Sorry :(. It would really confuse the "theme" aspect here.

For anyone scared off by some of these - I'd be pretty surprised if someone gets all 10.

I got all but two right now...

I got my first submittal, and it doesn't have 10 responses - there's still room to win!

Wait I didn't see that last little rule you put in there. We have to submit an image???

Well, you don't "have" to. I just thought it was a creative way to do the tie-breaker realizing part of this is to not just reward speed.

Again - you can just send me a link as well to Google Maps.

If people have major concerns with that, we could considering going to a first-in tie-break instead...

Ok, well in it to win it.

I'm hoping I can put together an entry, but not sure I'll be able to in a reasonable time frame. I've got ideas on most of these, just need to be able to look some up. If I don't make it in, I'll try a future one.

Bumpity - 4 hours left! I'm hoping that people are stalling trying to get the last couple, otherwise I'm not getting the response I hoped for :(.

10 at a time was kind of daunting for me. I doubt I'll be able to get one in, but I'll see.

Is 24 hours too short for this? I figured with us going through like 30 a day in the real-time thread that it wouldn't be bad.

The timing is just bad for me, wouldn't want to half ass it but don't have time to give it the proper attention.

I think so. Keep in mind a small handful of folks keeps the real-time one moving along.

Ok - let's make it 48 hours. The fact that we're 3 hours away and I have two entries is enough reason for me.

For the two that submitted already, feel free to resubmit if you figure out the remaining ones on your list.

Personally I thought 10 was a bit much, I would suggest 5 in the future. But that's just me.

If it was 5, I would have made all 5 very hard. Figured with 3-5 that are pretty easy..

I'll post the answers later, but digamma won with 9 right.

The fact that I only knew 1 of them discouraged me from participating.

I didn't know all of them when I started, but using some deduction I figured out most of them.

Didn't get 7? That one is a repost from one that I posted in the other thread. Although he may have been going for the specific arena, and not just the town that hosted the games.

Here is what I had.

I missed #9 which wade subsequently told me is the arena where the Rumble in the Jungle took place.

#6 is Docklands Stadium in Australia, though it now has corporate sponsor.
