Bigger shocker: Bart Simpson is a girl or Cleveland Brown is white?

I wonder how much "grief" FOX is going to take, because the star of their new animated comedy show is a white guy playing the black lead roll.

I give you Cleveland Brown, Before and After animation. :)

Personally when I first heard Family Guy was getting a spin off I was hoping it would be the Glenn Quagmire show. Giggidy, giggidy.

Glen Quagmire: Hello, 911? It's Quagmire. Yeah, it's caught in the window this time.

illinifan999 08-29-2009 08:24 PM

I don't understand why this is an issue.

Unless he blacks himself up in the recording studio I agree - don't see an issue?

Karlifornia 08-29-2009 08:42 PM

This is most shocking news in cartoons since thzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

EagleFan 08-29-2009 08:51 PM

Wow, trying to make an issue out of a non-issue? Must be a slow news day.

Schmidty 08-29-2009 09:14 PM

What?

You're about to be brutalized. :)

Actually I was just posting this as a joke here at FOFC.

But, you must live in a different world than me if you actually believe this is going to be a complete non-issue when The Cleveland show airs.

I got $5 in my pocket that says we will see at least 1 Al Sharpton interview on this. Any takers?

jetpunk2000 08-29-2009 09:59 PM

uhm...hasnt he done the voice for like 10 years now?

Greyroofoo 08-29-2009 11:07 PM

I'm just shocked they decided to do a show around Cleveland.

Yeah, I don't know why this would be a big deal now.

Yeah. And they canceled one of my favorite shows to do it - King of the Hill. Yeah, yeah, a lot of you hate it, blah, blah, blah. But I think that most people that gave it a chance would like it.

Anyway, I'll give this new show a few shots, but if it's as bad as "American Dad", I'll be pissed.

Danny 08-30-2009 12:00 AM

I was reluctant initially watch King of the Hill, but when I gave it a chance, I enjoyed it very much. Probably more than Family guy now.

Mustang 08-30-2009 12:24 AM

Hitler sums it up in Minute 2:40 - 3:00

Wait people don't like King of the Hill? That was a funny show.

Oh I know that this will be some sort of issue, I'm just saying it shouldn't be at all.

QFT. I kept coming back to that show thinking I missed something, but every episode that I watched it was like "nope, still sucks"

DanGarion 08-31-2009 11:43 AM

But hasn't the guy that did his voice always been white? Nothing is changing...

Exactly.

Kodos 08-31-2009 12:49 PM

For the record, King of the Hill does suck.

I hate you.

Sun Tzu 08-31-2009 03:34 PM

King of the Hill is funny in no way, shape, or form.

Young Drachma 08-31-2009 03:50 PM

It'll make it easier to cancel it.

Autumn 08-31-2009 04:39 PM

I still don't get this controversy. This guy just does the voice right? people will be upset that a voice actor is white and his character is black? Or is there more to this story that I'm far, far too lazy to look up?

There is nothing to this story. Nothing.

Hey, did you guys know that the voice for Scrooge McDuck was done by a person? Not by a duck? It's true. I heard it on the internet.

THAT DOES IT!! I'M DONE WITH THE INTERNET!!

Pumpy Tudors 10-11-2009 06:59 PM

So how's everyone feeling about the huge controversy when this show premiered two weeks ago?????

ISiddiqui 10-11-2009 07:01 PM

Biggest shocker: The Cleveland Show hasn't been canceled yet!

Yeap....It's just a carbon copy of what FG has come. While I still watch FG, it sucks now. The pre-cancelled shows were great and actually had a story (with the humor inserted better).

Acually, it was renewed for its 2nd season before the first episode even aired!

Schmidty 10-12-2009 02:59 AM

King of the Hill weeps.

King Of The Hill was a good show, and it had a good run. However, if it wasn't "The Cleveland Show", it would have been something else.

I was dissapointed that Hank Hill never went into business for himself with Hill Propane. And, Lucky pretty much killed the show for me.

bronconick 10-12-2009 09:36 AM

I spent every episode that I ever watched King of the Hill hoping for Peggy's violent death. Preferably while doing something that she considered herself to be an "expert" in.

cthomer5000 10-12-2009 09:54 AM

I can safely say I never "got" King Of The Hill. I watched 5-8 episodes over the years and just couldn't figure out what the hell i was supposed to be experiencing.

Right down to the music based on the few minutes I endured last night.

King of the Hill was a terrible show. It might have been funny the first season or so, but I couldn't really say because I stopped watching it after that.

Drake 10-12-2009 10:32 AM

I watched two episodes of The Cleveland Show last night hoping it would get better...it didn't.

It could just be that I'm a cartoon racist, though.

Drake 10-12-2009 10:33 AM

dola...

My kids' evaluation of it: "It's not even as funny as American Dad."

Talk about doubly damning criticism.

Cleveland Show is awful. I couldn't watch more than about 30 seconds of it before scrambling for the remote.

DaddyTorgo 10-12-2009 11:20 AM

the only thing that makes Cleveland Show bearable is Rollo.

Is it just me, or does this post make no sense at all???

The only epsiodes RG watched were funny, so he stopped watching and decided the show was terrible, but he doesn't know for sure....

SackAttack 10-13-2009 03:58 PM

The first episode was okay. The second one I stopped watching before the first commercial break. Yikes.

I meant to say episode, not season. My apologies.

AlexB 10-13-2009 04:21 PM

That's cool, I'm tired and couldn't get my head around it! I get a bit stuck on things like that at times - my brain doesn't switch off from work.

FWIW I agree the show wasn't funny in the first place!

M GO BLUE!!! 10-13-2009 04:46 PM

Would you like to play with Cleveland, Jr?

Still waiting for this.

RendeR 01-24-2010 06:33 PM

King of the Hill sucked. If I wanted to watch a caricature of southern inbred stupidity I'd just setup a webcam anywhere in Texas.

Pumpy Tudors 01-24-2010 06:34 PM

Well, that didn't turn out as I had hoped.

Greyroofoo 01-24-2010 07:15 PM

I'm shocked that Jar Jar Binks is black.
