DaddyTorgo 10-25-2009 07:10 PM

he is pretty horrible

Izulde 10-25-2009 07:14 PM

Fuck the whole team for giving up that huge lead.

Lathum 10-25-2009 07:15 PM

Players the Dolphins could have taken who were taken shortly after Ginn

DPatrick Willis
Darelle Revis
Leon Hall
Aaron Ross
Dwayne Bowe
Anthony Gonzalez

Certainly, but Ginn has got to go. There is no reason he should be out there. One long pass against the Jets doesn't excuse the total embarrassment he is at WR.

Oh I agree absolutely. Hell, Bess as a starter would be better than Ginn.

Bad-example 10-25-2009 07:24 PM

If you guys really hated Ted Ginn you would put "Fuck Ted Ginn" in giant red letters in your sig.

TheOhioStateUniversity 10-25-2009 08:03 PM

Now, now, the Browns will take him

Groundhog 10-25-2009 08:17 PM

Dolphins should've checked the OVR rating drop before trying to switch him from an Athlete to WR.

RedKingGold 10-25-2009 08:19 PM

Does he work at ESPN now?

aran 10-25-2009 09:12 PM

Ted Ginn only looked reasonably good in when he was wearing the bunny ears or that ref shirt.

Doesn't Cam need a WR that will suit his offense in Baltimore? As a punt returner his value is even greater. Surely a hall-of-fame PR if there ever was one.

He's from a hall of fame family, that's for sure.

Greyroofoo 10-25-2009 10:06 PM

I wonder if the Raider's have inquired about him.

For sure. You know his dad's a coach, don't you?

DeToxRox 10-25-2009 10:07 PM

I'd condone a trade for Ted Ginn if it gave Michigan access to Glenville.

Ted Ginn's Dad would give the Browns everything he has. Cleveland's fans would enjoy watching Ginn's father watch Ginn play for a long, long time as a Brown.

In context of the history of complaints on the Ginn pick, I find it funny no Brady Quinn on this list.

Kodos 10-26-2009 12:49 AM

Luckily, the Dolphins cleverly traded away Wes Welker before drafting Ted Ginn. Nice move!

Rizon 10-26-2009 02:11 AM

For a second there, I thought you were talking about Cameron. His dad was a coach as well.

I think he was actually released. So, the Dolphins got nothing for Welker, and then got nothing when they drafted Ginn.

Two nothings for free. Very nice, Miami!!

Ronnie Dobbs2 10-26-2009 11:58 AM

No, Welker was traded.

Second and seventh I believe.

Tom Brady would like to thank you for that

Kodos 10-26-2009 12:09 PM

Welker was like the one bright spot on our offense. And then they trade him away. To our arch rivals.

jeff061 10-26-2009 01:02 PM

Well they didn't really trade him away. They gave him a shitty tender, anyone could have swept in and claimed him. The Pats did, they threw a 7th round and did a "legit" trade just to keep relations positive. But they could have offered a poison deal to welker and sent nothing but a 2nd. Miami had no choice.

Miami should have offered a higher tender, no clue in the least why they didn't. Couple hundred thousand more and its a 1st rounder right?

Kodos 10-26-2009 01:20 PM

The former Dolphins front office just radiated competence.

I hate having to root against Welker.

Noop 10-26-2009 01:22 PM

The reaction at the time was, "what is New England thinking giving a second round pick for this guy?"

Some interesting stats:
Ginn's first two years: 1210 yards
Anothy Gonzalez: 1240
Welker: 1121 (ignores his 2004 season, 14 gp, 0 receptions.)

I'm not sure this is at all accurate. Most NE fans I know saw how dangerous he was with Miami and were glad to have him.

Also, he wasn't used in Miami nearly as much as Ginn has, so it makes sense that Ginn has outgained him.

Something like that. Although I think it was at least 800K or so more.

I think that's revisionist history. A 2nd round pick for a guy who was a special teamer/4th WR is quite a lot.

Ronnie Dobbs2 10-27-2009 08:37 AM

Shurg. He played well against the Pats, I remember that. I also remember winning a couple of fantasy football leagues by drafting him in 07, so maybe it was more of a me thing than an everybody else thing. I certainly didn't see 100 receptions, but I knew he would be a great signing.

And looking here (Front Office Football Central - View Single Post - So The Superbowl is Over (Unofficial 2007 NFL Draft/Free Agency Thread)) it seems that most Pats fans are on board with the move, the only people who aren't were fans of other teams.

stevew 10-27-2009 08:45 AM

2007 Compensation Salary

1st & 3rd Round Pick $2,350,000
1st Round Pick $1,850,000
2nd Round Pick $1,300,000
Players Original Draft Round $850,000

fantom1979 10-27-2009 08:50 AM

Better trade? Welker to the Pats or Roy Williams to the Cowboys?

I recall Dolphins fans being pretty pissed about the trade back then, too.

albionmoonlight 10-27-2009 09:12 AM

I wonder why the NFL does not do more "our guy with potential who has not worked out" for "your guy with potential who has not worked out" trades. Brady Quinn for Vince Young for example. Or Ginn for . . . I don't know, maybe Craig Davis? Is he even still in the league?

Point is, once you figure that a guy has demonstrated that he will not work in your system/for your coach/for your fans, he has very little value to you. Why not try and flip that into a 5% chance that you can turn around another team's problem with a change of scenery? Isn't that better than just letting him quietly leave as a FA in two years?

Just another gem of a decision by the old regime letting him go for a R2 and a R7.

Apathetic Lurker 10-27-2009 09:46 AM

As a Bills fan, I applaud the decision of the Miami "brain" trust to draft Ted Ginn.

As a ff team owner I have 3 Miami players on my roster, none named Ginn

Yeah, but...

Games Started
Ginn - 23
Gonzalez - 11
Welker - 3

I might be able to pull these names correctly without digging... I'm thinking John Avery for Marcus Nash? I agree, you'd think this might make sense more often than we see it.

By the way...

(1) Fuck Ted Ginn

(2) Isn't the ultimate punchline here that he isn't even a full time return man for the team? Good grief.
