Ping: HP fans
So much for the rumour that the HP kids were going to get replaced as the movie series advanced because they would be getting too old...
http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../23/c6173.html Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson to Reprise Roles in the Final Two Installments of Warner Bros. Pictures' ''Harry Potter'' Film Franchise BURBANK, CALIF., March 23 /CNW/ - Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will reprise the roles they have made their own: teen wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, respectively, in Warner Bros. Pictures' "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the final two motion picture adaptations of J.K. Rowling's best-selling book series. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures. In making the announcement, Robinov said, "When Daniel, Rupert and Emma were first cast as Harry, Ron and Hermione, we knew they were not only talented, but had a very special chemistry. Through the years, and in each of the 'Harry Potter' films, we have watched them grow into extraordinary young adults, as well as remarkable actors. It would be inconceivable to imagine anyone else in the roles with which they have become so identified, so we are thrilled and proud that Daniel, Rupert and Emma have chosen to complete the arc of their characters in the final two films." Both "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" are being produced by David Heyman, who has produced all of the Harry Potter films to date and was instrumental in bringing the franchise to the screen, beginning with the first blockbuster, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." David Barron, who served as an executive producer on "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and is a producer on the upcoming "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," will also be producing the final two installments of the franchise. Producer David Heyman said, "One of the highlights of this journey has been to witness Dan, Rupert and Emma blossom from children into young adults. They have emerged as consummate professionals who are dedicated to honing their craft and striving for excellence. And yet, throughout, they have retained their enthusiasm and spirit, and they remain, to this day, the same wonderful, kind and generous individuals I met all those years ago." Daniel Radcliffe remarked, "Playing the role of Harry Potter has been an immense privilege, and I look forward to completing the series. I feel a huge sense of loyalty to the character of Harry and the fans who have supported these films over the years. During filming, I have learnt so much, made lots of friends and met people who have changed my life. I am indebted to J K Rowling, Warner Bros. and David Heyman for giving me this fantastic opportunity." Emma Watson stated, "I could never let Hermione go--she is my hero! I love her too much and love what playing her has meant to me. I am excited and honoured to be finishing what I started and playing her in all seven of the films." Rupert Grint offered, "Ron Weasley has become a big part of my life and not just because we've both got ginger hair! I've been so proud to play him and loved every second of being part of this world. I'm really looking forward to filming the last two films and being back with my 'Weasley family' and, of course, to seeing my good friends Emma and Dan. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive over the years; we couldn't have done it without you." Warner Bros. Pictures' fifth film in the series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," is slated for release in the U.S. on July 13, 2007. |
I'm glad to hear that. While they aren't the best actors the movies would lose alot if they were replaced. I always thought the movies were pretty true to the books and to lose the 3 main charectures would have ruined them for me.

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread title:
|
Well, I would have posted this in an old thread in which we actually discussed the subject, but you deleted it at some point. Alas...
|
I liked his episode on Extras!

Leaky and Mugglenet both have the cover art details now for both the US and UK (children's and adult's) versions.
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#article:9653 http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/751 Be warned that if you click on the 2nd link (the one that goes to Mugglenet), they have the images right there so if you only want to see one or something, go via Leaky which has no images on the page I linked. The US edition will be 784 pages, the UK edition 608. Leaky has also released an episode of Pottercast today to talk about it (which I'm currently downloading). /tk |
Good day for announcements, between the cover art and the Civ IV expansion. :)
The art, as always intrigues me... and as always, 99% of the theories and guesses from it will be absolutely wrong. |
I was going to wait, but I said screw it and pre-ordered the book today. I cannot wait...and am very happy to hear that the three of them will be coming back to finish the series on the big screen. While I still chuckle when I watch the first few movies, they certainly have grown quite a bit and are much better actors than they were back then.

Ah, I got the HP cover from Borders' Rewards email... I have to say, of all the covers (Mugglenet shows them all), the UK Adult one really appeals to me. Though the US one is pretty good as well.

I concur, though the one that "intrigues" me the most is the UK children's cover. That is, it's the one that raises the most questions for me.. /tk |
I just clicked on it (to bring up the bigger cover) and I have to say you are right... what exactly is going on there?
|
Thanks for the heads up, tk. Doesn't appear there's as much to decipher as there was on the HBP cover, though...
|
Interestingly, there are all sorts of things you can see in the UK children's cover...
Spoiler
Wow, people are going to have a field day with theories until the book comes out...I can't wait! ;) /tk |
Children, Creepy Middle-Aged Weirdos Swept Up In Harry Potter Craze
December 5, 2001 | Issue 37•44 HOLLYWOOD, CA—Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone, the hit film about an orphaned boy and his pals at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry, continues to break box-office records, casting its magic spell over children and creepy middle-aged weirdos alike. Young Harry Potter fans at a showing of the film. Just ask Corey Molland, a Downers Grove, IL, 11-year-old who made his own Harry Potter costume, complete with Nimbus 2000 broomstick, to wear to the film's opening night. "I've seen the movie four times already," Molland said. "And I want to go see it again tomorrow." Or Corey's neighbor, Kurt Furmanek, an unmarried 40-year-old who has seen the film 11 times, always in a homemade Ludo Bagman costume. "It's terrific, as good as I'd hoped," said Furmanek, munching from a bag of Bertie Botts' Every Flavor Beans while waiting in line at a local multiplex Monday. "Granted, it's not perfect: They left out a number of key scenes and characters, like the second Quidditch match and Peeves. And some of the details were off, like how they said the boa constrictor was from Burma when it was from Brazil. But all in all, it's remarkably faithful." There are many possible explanations for Harry's broad appeal: a troubled world's need for a little bit of magic, the way the franchise taps into powerful good-versus-evil mythologies, the chance it offers overweight 47-year-olds to retreat from their dreary adult lives into an idealized fantasy childhood. But whatever it is that makes us wild about Harry, one thing is clear: The fantastical universe created by author J.K. Rowling speaks to the child in all of us, whether young or way too old. You can see it in Lisa Werner, a Pueblo, CO, 13-year-old who has read all four Harry Potter books three times and keeps an ever-growing scrapbook of magazine articles related to the books and films. Enlarge Image Not-so-young Harry Potter fan Kurt Furmanek in his basement bedroom. "Harry Potter books are the ultimate books ever!" Werner said. "I wish there were real chocolate frogs that jumped when you tried to eat them." And you can see it in Denver's Lynne Ritchie, a childless, 42-year-old legal secretary who named all six of her cats after students in the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff houses. "I had my doubts when I heard that Chris Columbus was chosen to direct, but I have to hand it to him," said Ritchie, who owns more than 150 Harry Potter toys, including the hard-to-find Powercaster Electronic Spell-Casting Playset. "He did a great job bringing Rowling's vision to the screen, particularly the Quidditch match and the living paintings at Hogwarts. I can't wait for Chamber Of Secrets." Maybe it's Harry's underdog qualities that make him so appealing. Or maybe it's the way wondrously magical things seem to burst from every page that makes the books so compelling to the likes of San Diego's Gary Minton, 41, who appeared as "Harry Potter Geek" on a recent episode of Comedy Central's Beat The Geeks game show. "There's never been anything like Harry—it's simply a phenomenon," said Minton, creator of the "Unofficial Hermione Granger Fan Page" and whose house neighborhood children have been warned never to enter. "And the movie is perfect, especially the casting of Emma Watson as Hermione. She's even prettier than I imagined. I hope she reads the Hermione Granger fan fiction I sent her." Child-development experts and arrested-development experts agree that Harry Potter's impact on society has been enormous. "What J.K. Rowling has done to foster literacy in a world where it was declining so steadily makes her a true hero," child psychologist Dr. Sandy Wexler said. "But for adults, it's a different story. Retreating into a child's fantasy world is one of the most distressing preliminary signs of becoming unhinged, even when the books are as richly imagined and engrossing as the Harry Potter series." Added Wexler: "Incidentally, do you think Snape is a Death Eater? I know he helped Harry out in Book One, but I have this theory." |
International trailer for Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix is up.
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/?articleID=9737 I really have high hopes for this movie, it looks INFINITELY better than that sad excuse for a movie that GoF was. /tk |
Quote:
Really? I thought the 4th movie was easily the best directed of the four, particularly given that this was the first of the longer books of the series and that some cuts were just going to have to be made. SI |
Quote:
It wasn't the cuts that angered me...I understand that those types of things will have to happen. It was the blatant story changing in places and the complete misrepresentation of Dumbledore. Michael Gambon is a HORRIBLE Dumbledore. The third one is my favorite movie, and the 6th and 3rd are my favorite books. /tk |
Quote:
I fully agree with you, tk. I pretty much hated GoF, one of the worse directed movie I have seen. This should be much, much better. |
Quote:
I really liked GoF. Actually, I've loved every one of the movies so far, although I dislike the new Dumbledore (Michael Gambino?). I guess I just go into these movies expecting to enjoy myself, not to pick apart every difference from the actual books. I'm not saying that that's what you're doing, but I know a lot of other people do that. |
Quote:
This is pretty much spot on with me. Weird. I don't think we agree very often. :) Then again, I don't think anyone likes the new Dumbledore... SI |
Quote:
I honestly didn't know that we disagreed often. I guess I never noticed, but I'll be watching what you say more closely now. ;) |
I liked GoF as well. A few things had to change, of course, and massive cuts had to be made. I didn't like Gambon either, but then again, I think Harris did the best Dumbledore possible and I'm not sure anyone could have measured up.
Infinately better than the trash than was the ending of CoS. |
I'm not a fan of Gambon. I'll give him one more film to shape up, but if he isn't any better in this one than he was in the last two, they better kill off the character in the next movie.

Same here, but since I work for HP, that's kinda normal :D |

Dude! You got fans. :D |

Actually, what I think it is in my mind is that we don't tend to post in the same small threads very often, not so much that disagreements arise. SI |
w00t!
Warner Brothers: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will open in the US on July 11, 2007

The cover art for the US Deluxe Edition has been released.
Wow, as if we didn't have enough things to ponder with the UK Children's cover and the US regular cover, this adds something new to the game... http://www.mugglenet.com/gallery/dis...bum=2097&pos=0 /tk |
Dragon riding.... fun.

i think the most interesting thing on there is that harry isnt wearing robes
|

The lighting, makeup, or air-brushing is bad on her face IMO. She looks hot I guess, but at the same time she looks like she has been in a drunken brawl and has a lot of makeup on to cover it up.
If I was into beating women I would probably jerk it to this pic. |
Don't matter, she's 18 now. :)
|
Quote:
Yep... it looks like someone beat her down right before the picture. Apparently for Bucc, as long as she's 18, that's ok ;). |
But that's the thing, she wasn't beaten down. You want see a better picture then instead of grabbing the first one on the list? Do it yourself. :p
|
i agree with bucc
|
dola, sorry for the brevity of my post, i am only using one hand....
|
Quote:
I see no list :p. |
Buc's obsession with Hermione has always disturbed me. I'm gonna make sure that I never go to Colorado with my daughter once she hits 13.
:) |
And I'll make sure I never have an afro and a paintbrush in my hand. :)
|
So, ummm, I just saw some pretty NSFW pics from her 18th birthday party. Basically she pulled a Britney/Paris/Lohan, except that instead of going commando she was wearing semi-see through panties. So enjoy, Bucc, you old perv you...

Link PM. :)

I'm surprised these links weren't more prevalent on general search sites.

Not going there. Just heard that Angie Harmon went nekkid.
