Original FOF on Ebay

At the advice of many, I've finally listed the original FOF on Ebay. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8154758791

Note, it does not include the original jewel case or manual.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Bob

gottimd 12-13-2004 07:06 AM

Is it haunted?

cthomer5000 12-13-2004 07:08 AM

it's mine... all mine!

bob 12-13-2004 07:28 AM

Admittedly, I'm not sure about its haunted / non-haunted status. I'll have to check that out.

Flasch186 12-13-2004 07:58 AM

stop out bidding me@!!!!

QuikSand 12-13-2004 08:02 AM

In that pic, I have some trouble seeing the face of the Virgin Mary. Might want to re-shoot it.

That's because it is Jim's face you are seeing.

gi 12-13-2004 08:33 AM

I still have my original CD too....I think I will keep it unless you make $100+ :)

BigJohn&TheLions 12-13-2004 04:54 PM

I'm thinking of listing a grilled cheese sandwich that has the unmistakable image of Boz Scaggs...

DanGarion 12-13-2004 04:57 PM

Should have titled it.

Front Office Football - NOT Haunted Virgin Mary Cheese Cane

cthomer5000 12-13-2004 05:22 PM

I'm back in the saddle.

Franklinnoble 12-13-2004 05:30 PM

Mine!

VPI97 12-13-2004 05:39 PM

Hey bob....you're in Atlanta? Me too! We must be like neighbors or something. How's about you be nice and neighborly and bring that CD over for a little bit. Mmmmkay?

Swaggs 12-13-2004 07:28 PM

So, I'm not an Ebay veteran. I have never used it, in fact, although I have browsed. To the untrained eye, it does not appear to be fetching its worth right now.

Do things usually not heat up in the bidding until things get down to the last day? Can bob pull this off if decides he hasn't gotten enough for it? Does the fact that he is missing the case and manual hurt the bidding significantly?

Flasch186 12-13-2004 07:32 PM

im going to bid $100 the last second

cthomer5000 12-13-2004 07:32 PM

All the bidding is last minute at eBay.

LionsFan10 12-13-2004 07:34 PM

I have the original game, jewel case and all here at the house. If you guys want a copy of it THAT bad, I'd definitley be willing to deal it away to one of the seedy characters here at FOFC.

hoosierdude 12-13-2004 08:09 PM

I hope someone donates some of that back to Jim for all his hard work.

Would be a great gesture for Christmas, eh?

sterlingice 12-13-2004 08:39 PM

I dunno if I'd trust these people, bob. Flasch, well, he's got 0 feedback. Could be crooked, or at least leaning to the left ;) And vexroid, well, he's from Oklahoma as can be evidenced by his two previous purchases. And then there's that shady fnbrown who only has 8 feedback. I'd insist on cash up front with this rogues gallery ;)

SI

vex 12-13-2004 09:30 PM

LOL, SI might have a point.

MizzouRah 12-14-2004 11:50 AM

When bidding, you can put a max bet that will only increment to that max, when other people bid above yours.

I guess that's the risk involved with ebay - you can't pull it off if you don't get the price you want. You can list the item with a reserve price (item does not sell unless the bid price is over the price, and the bidders do not know the price), but it costs more to list it like that.

I'm obviously new to it as well - apparantly I made a beginner's mistake (The auction end time is 8 AM EST on Monday, which means the last second bidding will be reduced, especially since that is 5 AM on the Pacific coast).

Cuckoo 12-14-2004 12:03 PM

I'd love to have this as the first one I bought was FOF2, but I won't bid because there's no jewel case or manual. That may sound stupid to some, but if I was going to buy it, I'd want everything. I have all of my cases, boxes, and manuals of every game I've ever bought. I'm nuts with that.

Raiders Army 12-14-2004 12:07 PM

With a name like Cuckoo, I'm not surprised you're nuts with that.

Blame my mother for that. I guess I learned the same lesson that my father did when his mother threw out all his baseball cards: once you move out of the house, for any reason, take EVERYTHING with you.

:p

cuervo72 12-14-2004 12:34 PM

Jim doesn't have hundreds of these lying around the house, or being used as coasters??

Arles 12-14-2004 12:36 PM

Didn't the original just come with the jewel case and manual? I don't remember the original FOF coming in a box, but I may be wrong. I still have mine ;)

bob 12-14-2004 12:55 PM

Just a jewel case and manual, but I had it in another CDROM case. I kept all my boxes, jewel cases, and manuals somewhere else so they wouldn't get messed up.... so they were all in perfect condition when they were thrown away.

Franklinnoble 12-14-2004 07:23 PM

I can't believe I'm still the high bidder.

Seriously... that price is too low... so, if you don't want to sell it for that, it's cool. I won't leave negative feedback or anything.

Dutch 12-14-2004 09:26 PM

I took a stab at bumping it up (mbMike). :D

bob 12-15-2004 06:20 AM

I have a feeling that the price will start jumping up on Sunday / Monday morning... I'm not too worried - remember, I was going to trade it away for another game at first.

bob 12-17-2004 11:51 AM

Before I leave for the weekend, I just wanted to remind everyone that this auction closes on Monday at 8 AM EST.

Bob

bob 12-19-2004 02:35 PM

16 hours to go on the auction - I hope the price goes up some here. You guys got my hopes up pretty high.

Bob

Dutch 12-19-2004 05:20 PM

I would imagine a minor flurry of activity here with about 15 minutes to go.

bob 12-20-2004 06:17 AM

Ok, 47 minutes to go now.... come on minor flurry of activity!

Swaggs 12-20-2004 11:59 AM

So... who told Bob it would be selling for $80?

vex 12-20-2004 12:01 PM

Yeah, that's pretty sad that after all of the hoopla everyone made about it.

The people who only bid 20.

Franklinnoble 12-20-2004 12:36 PM

Disappointing, to say the least.

Bomber 12-20-2004 12:40 PM

First of all, you should have set the initial price higher if you wanted more. Second, who are the asshats who were bidding on day one. Do you not use eBay? Nothing pisses me off more than someone bidding before the last 5 minutes, what's the point in driving up the price?

vex 12-20-2004 12:46 PM

Bomber, the price was going to get there anyways. Why not speed the process along?

That makes no sense. If I'm willing to pay $20, what's the difference if I bid it on the first day or the last day?

MizzouRah 12-20-2004 01:05 PM

Should have set a reserve price.

Nothing peeves me more than people who only big in the last five minutes to try and get something cheap and just end up bidding below its reserve so it has to be reposted ;)

bob 12-20-2004 01:49 PM

To be honest with you, I'm not that disappointed. While I would love to have gotten more money for it, if you remember I was willing to trade it for an older used game. So instead I get enough money to buy ESPN Baseball when it comes out. Seems like a fair trade to me.

I know its a "collector's item," but only if you want to collect it, which I didn't. I have the latest game on my PC, so to me this is just a disc. While I enjoyed my time with the original game, I don't have to have the disc to remember that - I just crank up the new one.

As far as a reserve price goes, it just seems like a hastle to have to continuously repost the item if it doesn't sell at your price.
