Continental Football League - The Dynasty
The Continental Football league, established in 2003 is a FOF Multiplayer League. I am the commissioner of the 32 team league. We have seen many highs and some lows since we started. In our inaugural season, the Oregon Ice won the Continental Bowl, defeating the Memphis Express, 17-15.
The propose of this dynasty will be to inform the community about our league in progress. Many members will be chipping in with info and doing various leagues stories. We also have a couple of individual team dynasties in which the owners go into excruciating detail about their respective teams: I will being doing general league info, doing my best to fill in gaps here and there. Other owners will be reporting what they will be doing over the next few days or so. Our sim schedule is every Sunday and Wednesday with an export sandwiched between for free agent signings. We have a live simulation, where we do the play by play of a game of the week. The Continental Football League hopes that you will enjoy reading this report. Come along and join the fun of the first FOF league dynasty. |

2004 POTENTIAL MVP OWNER AWARD RECIPIENTS WATCH
Charleston Monitors QB Timothy Gordon STOCK: UP[/b] Height: 6-3 Weight: 230 Experience: 17 Born: 7-26-1966 Contract End: 2007 Joined Team: 2003 Cap Cost: $9,600,000 Hometown: Fort Gay, WV College: Alabama League Draft: 1st round, 2003, pick 2 Honors: 2003 Solecismic League MVP, 2003 All-CFL 2nd Team Quarterback QB Style: Short Passes CFL Records Held QB Rating/Season - 98.9 Stats Code:
Year GP GS Att Comp Pct Yards Avg Lg TD Int Sck Yards Rate 2004 Record: 4-0 THOUGHTS Gordon continues his success this season. He has a 4-0 record in the toughest division in the CFL. He has been very consistent and is on pace to throw only 4 interceptions this season. If this efficiency keeps up, it is going to be hard not to look at Gordon as a candidate. Tucson Toros RB Chester Brumley STOCK: DOWN Height: 5-11 Weight: 200 Experience: 11 Born: 6-12-1972 Contract End: 2004 Joined Team: 2003 Cap Cost: $4,490,000 Hometown: West Union, IA College: Toledo League Draft: 5th round, 2003, pick 5 Honors: 2003 CFL Offensive Player of the Year, 2003 All-CFL 1st Team Running Back CFL Records Held None Stats Code:
Year GP GS Att Yards Avg Lg TD THOUGHTS As Tucson struggles to win games, Brumley's carries are going down due to the need to turn to the passing game. In addition, his ypc is amongst the middle of the league. He has only gotten in the end zone twice, but fortunately he has cut down on his tendency to fumble and has 0 fumbles this year compared to his 6 last year. The Tucson RB is 100 yards off the pace of the league leader and quickly falling. He needs to have a breakout game if he wants to continue to be considered in this group. Portland Knights QB Landon Hurst STOCK: DOWN Height: 6-4 Weight: 229 Experience: 6 Born: 6-16-1977 Contract End: 2007 Joined Team: 2003 Cap Cost: $9,600,000 Hometown: Gilmer, TX College: Texas - El Paso League Draft: 1st round, 2003, pick 24 Honors: 2003 CFL Championship MVP, 2003 All-CFL 1st Team Quarterback CFL Records Held Pass Yards/Playoff Game - 338 Stats Code:
Year GP GS Att Comp Pct Yards Avg Lg TD Int Sck Yards Rate 2004 Record: 2-2 THOUGHTS It has been a rough two weeks for Hurt. He has gone down in every stat category since the last MVP review was done. He went 1-1 in that span, and threw his first Int of the season. His rating has dropped and does not appear on the way up at this time. Albany Engineers QB Rocky McFarland STOCK: STEADY Height: 6-4 Weight: 240 Experience: 7 Born: 4-1-1976 Contract End: 2009 Joined Team: 2003 Cap Cost: $8,950,000 Hometown: Gilbert, AZ College: Arkansas League Draft: 3rd Round, 2003, pick 32 QB Style: Long Passes Honors: None CFL Records Held Passing TDs/Game - 5 Stats Code:
Year GP GS Att Comp Pct Yards Avg Lg TD Int Sck Yards Rate 2004 Record: 3-1 THOUGHTS In the last week McFarland has had trouble finding the endzone, only passing for 2 TDs but also throwing his first Int. However, his Avg has stayed exactly the same and his Pct has remained close to steady. If McFarland could avoid the sack more often, he could increase his chances for this award. Chicago Hitmen RB Arthur Brady STOCK: STEADY Height: 5-10 Weight: 236 Experience: 4 Born: 10-12-1979 Contract End: 2008 Joined Team: 2003 Cap Cost: $2,810,000 Hometown: Alamosa, CO College: Tulsa League Draft: 16th Round, 2003, pick 4 Honors: 2003 All-CFL Owner 1st Team Running Back CFL Records Held Rush Att/Game - 42 Rush Yards/Game - 227 Rush Yards/Season - 1,721 Stats Code:
Year GP GS Att Yards Avg Lg TD THOUGHTS Brady leads the league in rushing and continues to show he is a reliable back. His average has come down a bit from the lofty 5.0 ypc he had in the first two weeks, but that was to be expected. The big knock on Brady is that he cannot get in the endzone. He is the only RB with more than 62 carries that does not have a TD. It is doubtful that even as the league leading rusher he will win the MVP award without improving his TD situation. Honolulu Blue Pacific QB Ronnie Tu STOCK: UP Height: 6-0 Weight: 221 Experience: 7 Born: 1-17-1976 Contract End: 2005 Joined Team: 2003 Cap Cost: $9,6000,000 Hometown: Soda Springs, ID College: Fresno State League Draft: 1st Round, 2003, pick 11 QB Style: Long Passes Honors: None CFL Records Held Passing Yds/Season - 4,300 Passing TDs/Season - 32 Stats Code:
Year GP GS Att Comp Pct Yards Avg Lg TD Int Sck Yards Rate 2004 Record: 2-1 THOUGHTS After missing his week 1 start due to injury, Tue has lit up the league. He has the best Rating in the league and 2nd best ypa average. In addition, he is tied for 4th in the league in Td's despite only playing 3 games and is the only starting QB without an Int. Tu is quickly making me reconsider my prediction for the final winner. PREDICTION I am going to stick with Albany QB Rocky McFarland for now, but I am quickly losing faith in that pick. |
Ronnie Tu missed week 2 start, not the first week, but that's no biggie. He's still the best QB in the league.

Week 5 review:
Anchorage (1-3) Albany (NY) (3-1) Boise City (3-1) Hartford (1-3) |

Levy is actually our FB. He has amazing speed for a FB to be able to break one open like that. I definately agree though (as you can see in my summary) that this was the play of the game as you don't count on the FB running from 30 yards out with :58 left in the game to break a tie. |
6 INTs on 6 straight posessions. You hate to see a young QB like Bridges do that, but hopefully he can bounce back next week. Also nice to see Saunders having a good game given the chance to start.

This game became much more defensive than I thought it would be. As I read through the game log (I always open it and read it before seeing the score), I was heartbroken when we fumbled that punt. This was a great game played by Sev's team and the rematch later this season should be intense! |
I can't believe I am 5-1 !!! I have a lot of injuries though so I'm pretty likely to go on a major losing streak soon...
|
How come I recognize these box scores :)
|
My Breakers are 1-4!! I thought they would come on this year. Lots of potential there.
|
and the Dragons are 5-1 :) Man the guy who built that team did a heck of a job ;)

Nice to see Brumley rounding into shape. He is our offense - he's our leading rusher and receiver. I shudder at the thought of him getting hurt.
Nice work everyone! |

Checking in from my sister's place here. All I can say is wow! Totally wrong about one of us blowing out the other. Looks like the sort of game that I wish I would've looked through the log rather than just look for the score. :( |
Quote:
Yeah, I finally learned my lesson and I open up the .flg file for the game before I even open FOF. Yeah, we showed our smarts by taking about it being a one-sided game, eh?! Don't worry, we'll score a TD next time, I swear! |
D'oh! I think I know who Dr. K is now!

Nah, he just stole his code for us... |

Afraid not. Just a copy-cat. |
3ric, you're slacking on us! :)
|
Yeah I know. I have done six games on the report so far, but it appears I'm going to be tied up with stuff tonight... :(
Edit: a bit late, but here it is: Week 7 review
Bye week: New York City (3-3) Seattle(1-5) Boston (4-2) Arizona (2-4) |
slacker slacker slacker! ;)
Understood, I'm having a hard time keeping up with my CFL dynasty and the IHOF predictions. |

ohhhh kinky, why be sad?!? :D FWIW, despite being out of the league, I still visit the league forum regularly and I enjoy reading your summaries 3ric... I am also really surprised at how well the Dragons are doing so far :) FM |
I'm taking submissions for the first "Behind the Player" story. PM me with a player on your team that you would like to have a story about. Give me a general feel of his attitude, why you want a story about him, and a couple of quotes of things that he might say.
You can only have one pending submission at a time, so if you decide that you have a different player than your original submission, the original submission will be dropped. All submissions must be received by 11:59 PM on Sunday to be eligible for that Sunday's article. If you do not meet this deadline, send me a PM with the information anyhow. Your player might be eligible for the next edition. I will make an executive decision on which one that I want to do. If I'm torn between two or more, we'll have a poll. |
After a disasterous start for the season, I tried to shift around Hartford's offensive line a bit to generate a better protection and more rushing lanes. I gave last years LT his first start and the over paid fool gave up 3 sacks. At least the game was a little closer than most have been this season.
I really miss my first round pick, LT Orumieh. I thought my team should be better this season, but that devestating injury combined with my defense not developing as expected has Hartford on track for another high draft pick. |
I'm just trying to feel my team out this season. I should be able to field a much better team next season.
|
Anyone catch the ending to that Memphis-Batlimore game? :)
|

LOL <<< Start of Overtime: Memphis won the toss and elected to receive. Beginning of Overtime 1. Score: Baltimore 17, Memphis 17. BAL 17 Little kicked off 70 yards from the BAL30. MEM 82 Parsley returned the ball 100 yards for a touchdown! << |
Yeah, it was QUITE the heartbreaker for Baltimore.. I mentioned it in my dynasty, talk about a tough loss!
I am quite happy with my team right now. For coming into a team right before week 1, it turns out it was built pretty well towards my stile. There are some personel changes that I will look to do, but overall it is working out well. It is a challenge having nothing to do with the personel so it is nice to see good results with what I was "stuck with". Even though the performance has not been quite as good as last year, I still think it is one of the best divisions in the league. |
Just to let you know folks that I have been working on the injury watch list, but since I have a helluvalot to catch up, I'm hoping to be ready by the end of this season...
j/k but every time I seem to have to time to work on it, it seems that at least 2 game weeks have gone by and I have to start all over again... |
Hey Masked, looks like we go head-to-head again this week, this time in Hartford! Should be another good game!
I also think that this year isn't quite the year for my team, although I am happy with our start. We've got some young guys here in Boston, and some cap space, so it's just a matter of finding out where we want to spend it, in order to improve next year. The only problem is quarterback -- McMillan is holding down the fort, but I don't know if we can ever really be a Super Bowl contender with him. On the other hand, it will be difficult to get anyone better. We'll see how he does the rest of the year. |
Bump to mention the week 7 review is posted earlier in the thread.

This is the way I love to see it. As I mentioned, last week Alvey only touched the ball 15 times, and guess what? We lost! Even when his ypc are not stellar, they are enough if he gets the ball 30+ times. Plus, you know he is going to break a couple of 10+ yarders off at key times. |
Week 8 review
Memphis (4-3) Fargo (ND) (2-4-1) El Paso (2-5) Baltimore (3-4) |
Why does this league have to pick up steam after I leave? :(

Dola...
Noble McLane rules. |
He could be nicknamed "Wheels" McLane after that game...
|
Thanks for the review, 3ric.
It's about time this overpaid guy steps up -- so far it's been all hype with him. Perhaps if my offensive line could at least maybe slow down opposing pass rushers, he would put up solid games consistently. |
Good game, Masked. You guys really handled us.

The league just had to bring in the right members :p |
They have solid ownership ;)
Lots and lots of my game plan tweaking combined with the solid roster you put together previously...the lack of injuries helps, too. Of course you stuck me with massive salary cap issues after this season  - Thul Quote:
