What Better?? Kevin Arnold's Girlfriends
Most of us grew up watching the Wonder Years and I'm willing to even bet a few of us even got our first boners from one of Kevin's girlfriends. That being said when you were younger which one did you think was the best!?!?!
Winnie Cooper - Kevin's main love interest. In an episode entitled "The Accident" and in the final episode, it is stated that every important event in Kevin's life somehow involves Winnie. She lives on the same block as Kevin. Their first kiss and her older brother's death while serving as a soldier in the Vietnam War play an important part of the pilot episode. In one episode, her parents separate over their grief of the death of their son. In the epilogue of the final episode, it is revealed that Winnie goes on to study art history in Paris. Kevin and Winnie write a letter to each other every week for eight years until she returned. Despite their life-long romance, they never married and end up living separate lives. Becky Slater - Kevin's junior high school classmate and one-time girlfriend. He dates her purely to make Winnie jealous and she punches him when she finds out he still likes Winnie. She holds a grudge against Kevin and becomes a recurring nuisance throughout junior high school. Her character is physically aggressive and hostile towards men. Madeline Adams: Kevin's temporary flame during his final year in junior high. Cara - Kevin's summer romance while vacationing with his family at a lake. He meets her before he begins high school and returns to see her after getting his driver's license. Lisa Berlini - Kevin went to a dance with her. Teri - A girl Kevin had met at Ocean City that summer in 1969. Side note: Becky and Winnie are sisters IRL |
I always liked Madeline the best, Winnie was a close second.

not all of the images are working, but i fail to see how this is even a question. i think it's pretty much winnie all the way...in fact if you put up a poll i bet it'd be a landslide
|
Madeline, hands down.
(That page - hosting the images - has a few I forgot about. Carla Gugino!) |
THANK YOU CUERVO!!!
|
|
Yeah, Madeline no doubt. I always thought Winnie was kinda odd looking. Not ugly, just odd looking. Almost too prissy for her own good.
|
|
The image above doesn't work, but I don't need to see it...Madeline was hawt.
|
Kevin Arnold and I shared the same grade levels in the same years (excepting decades, of course), so I had a decent crush on Winnie until, as time passed, she became more and more a blank slate onscreen -- no redeeming characteristics and generally just serving as a conflict device. However, that minx Madeline was the hottest ticket in town.
/much "Wonder Years" love |
dola...
Mmm...Madeline. |
I haven't seen The Wonder Years in years. I wonder what happen in showing re-runs.
|
Quote:
It costs a lot to run the re-runs because of all of the music that needs licensed. |

Same reason we haven't seen a DVD set yet, from what I've read. |
No contest.

I remember watching them on TV Land a few years ago. Not sure if that is still the case though.......... |
I use the "voulez-vous de beurre" line that Kevin used on Madeline all the time. Despite that, I vote Winnie.
|
Do you want some butter?
|
That is the correct translation.
|
Madeline by a trillion miles.

I can't believe Winnie's winning. I'm not gonna crack on her physique, because she was a kid/teen, but even if she were stacked she wouldn't be a tenth as hot as Madeline in that fuzzy sweater.
I need some water. |
More like you need some lotion :)
|
I'm still pretty sure Winnie Cooper is the perfect girl.

I use conditioner. It's more discreet. I'm married. :( |
Trivia question for you guys though....the actresses who played Becky Slater and Winnie are sisters in real life.
|
I grew up with the Wonder Years and loved it ....
Has to be Winnie I'm afraid. |

Errr....don't you mean Kleenex? |
Who the hell voted for Becky Slater?
|

So it is....and I should have declared it a trivia answer instead of a question for the grammar police. |

No dude...i like Madeline. She spoke french so well. |

Absolutely. |
Dude, Madeline. I still never figured out why Kevin blew her off. She was hot, nice, and she dug Kevin. I actually yelled "TAKE HER TO THE BONEYARD, ALREADY!!!" at the TV during the episode where Kevin ends things at a party by saying "Get lost, Madeline."
|
I'd vote for his sister.
edit- there was something about his mom too. |
I need a re-vote - I meant Madeline!

That was pointed out in the original post... :) |
The girl that played Winnie Cooper is still hot today. She was on How I Met Your Mother last season. Smokin.
Oh and she's a freaking mathematics wizard/major IRL. |

Chayes-McKellar-Winn theorem. Erudite and gorgeous. |
Aww man, what a joy to come home and see this thread. To me, it comes down to two girls: Winnie and Madeline. Despite the first (and last) love, the thing that kicks Winnie up is my favorite episode where Kevin tells her he loves her. Only time he had done that, iirc. But I also believe he had a real hard on for Madeline until he told her to fuck off, another one of my favorite episode. A little while ago, I did watch the whole first episode on YouTube but I don't know if it's still there.

This is a show that should be on DVD but as I understand it, musical copyrights are in the way of just about everything. It's sad to think this show will never see DVD unless it dumps the music but unfortunately, that music is essential to the show.

His sister actually sang Living on a Prayer with Bon Jovi on his Left Feels Right CD. Yes I am a loser. |
i loved becky slater.
|
Which one of them knows where the baseball Giants play?

I have heard a while back that most of it is wrapped up (royalty fees) but they were waiting on a particular catalog. With all of the changes in the music industry lately, maybe there'll be a breakthrough. But they can't wait too much longer since it's already 20 years old. |
