Star Wars: Episode VIII (Now with spoilers!!!!!)

Let the Jedi training begin!

stevew 04-11-2016 08:26 AM

I feel like Rey will turn to the dark side. She used similar battle styles as Palpitine and it had to be on purpose. IMO she kills Luke in Episode 8

Kodos 04-11-2016 08:28 AM

No way.

Mota 04-11-2016 08:42 AM

She's the most likeable new character since A New Hope, so I don't think they'll do that! Awesome pic!

Kodos 04-11-2016 09:23 AM

I like how Scott Hamill is having so much fun with the return of Star Wars. He seems to have a great sense of humor about the whole thing.

I bet Mark Hamill is having a good time too ;)

Kodos 04-11-2016 09:49 AM

Oh god!

I didn't get much sleep last night... And I'm bad with names on a full night's sleep.

That would be so freaking cool! It would totally redeem the whole Rey becomes master Jedi in 3 seconds issue I had in Ep VII (well, the issue would still be there, but if she becomes a dark side practitioner, I'd be more ok with it).

My preferred storyline (which means it will never happen) is that Rey turns to the dark side and Kylo Ren turns to the light side and then in Ep 9, it'll be Kylo Ren the Jedi vs. Darth Rey the Sith Lord and it would be a fantastic mind-fuck.

That would be incredible.

He can't wait to skate on down to the theatre.

It's got a title--Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

SegRat 01-23-2017 11:47 AM

Can't wait

Kodos 01-23-2017 11:49 AM

Scott Hamill must be psyched! I bet he pirouettes all over in the light saber battles!

Looks like maybe I'm not the only person to mash several people with similar names into one person. ;)

December is too damn long.

As we say where I come from: SQUEEEE

Edward64 04-14-2017 12:17 PM

Nice.

Ironhead 10-10-2017 08:41 AM

For anyone who has watched it, does the new trailer released last night contain spoilers?

I do not think that it contains any more spoilers than the typical trailer.

albionmoonlight 10-10-2017 09:28 AM

dola:

But that isn't to say it is 100% spoiler free. If you want to stay totally sequestered, I'd avoid it.

Neuqua 10-10-2017 10:45 AM

I do think the trailer makes some strong implications, whether it's to throw the audience off or not I don't know.

ISiddiqui 10-10-2017 11:01 AM

Yeah, if you are really against spoilers, you probably don't want to watch it. There are some huge things hinted at in it.

molson 10-10-2017 01:26 PM

There's really big plot points that are teased, but I'm confident in the way Disney is choosing to present the buildup for this. So I'm happy to consume anything that's official. I think they're probably mixing legitimate hints with some misdirections and that it all has a purpose.

This. I'm gonna avoid seeking out leaks, but I am comfortable that any official releases will make me feel teased but not spoiled when I finally see the movie.

I have never done this before, but bought tickets for Friday night of opening weekend.

My 15 year old was begging me to do it, as he says that it is basically a game between kids in his age group and a bit younger (especially those playing online games) to spoil the Star Wars movies as quickly as possible once they come out to anyone and everyone.

He knew about the Han Solo happenings for the last movie pretty much the day it came out.

As a father, you don't have any problems with that?

Possibly, you don't think that's a big deal (kids being kids, et al). To me, though, that's a tremendous dick move.

But I'm not a father, so what do I know?

I think he is just trying to avoid spoilers, not gather them for blurting them out to all his friends.

Ah okay, I misunderstood. That's a pretty shitty game his friends (or kids his age) are playing.

molson 10-11-2017 10:52 PM

I don't think it was necessary at all to buy them this early, but I got my now-traditional Friday morning (9:00 AM) IMAX 2D tickets for Star Wars. There's something oddly satisfying about skipping out from work before noon and going to the theater with my work clothes on.

Suicane75 10-11-2017 11:02 PM

Boy, that trailer didn't mix and match scenes to make you think something that's obviously not gonna happen, is gonna happen. Did it?

molson 10-17-2017 12:31 PM

The Han Solo movie is going to be called......

Solo.

Or, more specifically, in the Rogue One style, "Solo: A Star Wars Story"

It premieres May 25, 2018. It will be nice to have two Star Wars movies in 6 months.

This Disney animator did a Star Wars / Calvin & Hobbes mashup. It is awesome.

May I suggest avoiding this thread entirely then from the 14th through when you are seeing it? ;)

I'm just gonna close my eyes through life I think between the 14th and when we see it. Lol.

molson 12-11-2017 12:18 PM

The premiere was last night and the some of the media probably will see it this week so now is the time to tread carefully on reddit and facebook, etc.

PilotMan 12-11-2017 12:30 PM

Initial reviews have been over the moon positive.

General Mike 12-12-2017 08:07 PM

Just bought my ticket. Very few quality seats remained at the theater I go to (reserved seating). Gonna go see it Saturday morning. I've never gone to a Star Wars film during it's opening weekend either.

stevew 12-14-2017 09:58 PM

So much to talk about. Some weird choices. It was pretty good but...

Neon_Chaos 12-14-2017 11:31 PM

Saw it. Thought it was good.... but it does feel... off?

ColtCrazy 12-15-2017 08:27 AM

Saw it last night, and I really enjoyed it. It goes down its own path, which I was happy to see.

larrymcg421 12-15-2017 09:36 AM

5, 4, 8, 3.9, 7, 6, 3, 2, 1

Edward64 12-15-2017 09:37 AM

Good to hear the positive feedback.

Dr. Sak 12-15-2017 10:43 AM

Saw it...liked most of it...didn't like some of it.

Overall was entertained by all of it.

On a side note...our boss at work was going to pay us to see it this afternoon...however, 3 members of the group didn't want to go, so none of us get to go.

That's BS.

At least you know who will be the first three up against the wall when the office revolution comes.

NobodyHere 12-15-2017 05:13 PM

So when are we going to start discussing spoilers? I'm hoping to see it tomorrow morning. I'll probably change the thread title when when this thread is no longer spoiler free to warn people.

CleBrownsfan 12-15-2017 05:26 PM

Monday - because I’m seeing in Sunday night :)
