The Mandalorian & other Star Wars series
I've only read positives on Mandalorian. It's probably the best series I've watched in recent years and glad s2 (so far) is even better than s1. A good balance of action, writing & funny dialogue, special effects, and personal interaction between Mando and baby Yoda (who has great facial expressions).
Still wondering if/how the Mandalorian eat (probably don't) and drink (have to, right?) in public though. Quote:

He has said he takes his helmet off when alone, so imagine he eats and washes then. He probably has some internal way to get fluids and nutrients as well, but he does take he helmet off daily.
|
I love this series. Best part of my Friday during the season. Agreed it's the best series in years.
|
I really is awesome and stays true to the Star Wars universe.
I love baby Yoda eating the eggs. lol.. |
And the one they hid to save for eating later on! Such a great series!
|
This series is the only reason I'm paying for Disney channel when our free year ran out. :)
|
My daughter pays for the sub. So it makes it that much better.
|
Ep 1 this season was good. 2 was kind of meh. 3 was better than 1.
Can't wait to see what's next! |
I thought S2 has been worse than S1. Ep1 and Ep2 did the cardinal sin of boring me. Though I hear that Ep3 was much better. However my free year of Disney+ expired. So I'll probably just wait until the season is over and then just get a month of D+ to watch it.

I thought S2Ep1 was the weakest one yet...and that hurts, because I'm a huge fan of Tim Olyphant. I just felt like the writing was really poor.
|
Also: Hey Star Wars universe! Stop giving me sentient aliens that just look like Earth animals.
Looking specifically at you, Dr. Mandible and pregnant salamander. ETA: This is really just a minor gripe I've had ever since the fat blue elephant playing the piano for Jabba the Hutt. |
Season 2 >>> Season 1
Season 2 Episode 2>Episode 1>Episode 3 But it's really close. Incredible start to this year. It's everything we really wanted. |
I actually thought Episode 3 was the weakest one so far this season. I'd put it Ep 1 > Ep 2 > Ep 3
|
Hah. I like them all but grade it Ep 3 > Ep 2 > Ep 1.

this is seriously the most star wars that star wars can get and people hating on season 2 are insane. all 3 episodes have been great. |
I love this show and look forward to it every week.
|
I’m loving it. Perfect mixture of adventure and humor. Love the Alien references. The jet pack trick was hilarious.
|
Weird seeing Kara Thrace in the Star Wars universe, but I'm in the "episode 3 was the best so far in season 2 camp."
Slight spoiler: I am slightly concerned that our hero keeps putting himself in position to be taken advantage of and needing to be bailed out. |
I have been loving the series so far overall.
I don't like Giancarlo Esposito as the big bad (so far), cuz he's playing practically the same character in 3-4 successive shows I've watched, which isn't very compelling. Similarly I want to like Amy Sedaris' character, but I don't & she pulls me out of the story every time she's on screen. |
So far we have the following threads in season 2(continued from season 1)
-Mando trying to find Ahsoka and return the child -Moff Gideon trying to get the child, and possessing the Darksaber -Bo Katan trying to get the darksaber back from Moff Gideon, so she can unite the rest of the mandalorians -Random bounty hunters attempting to collect on Din and the Child -Boba Fett, surely not going to throw away his shot -Greef Karga and Cara Dunne, who surely will get in the mix I doubt all of these threads will conclude this season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Boba Fett make a power play this year. I doubt that the long term safety of Peli Motto(amy sedaris) can be assured, with Fett around. Also possible they can use a younger Lor San Tekka at some point in this series(guy that Kylo kills in the beginning of episode 7). |
Wait ... Boba was in an episode?
I have to read more fan episode analysis. |
Quote:
Well, have to see where it leads, but the last shot of episode 1 (IIRC) was the actor who played Jango Fett in the prequels, and Boba Fett was a clone of Jango. |
Heavily scarred Temuera Morrison was in the last shot op episode 1. He played Jango. All the clone trooper clones were aged rapidly so it basically has to be Boba. Plus that was Boba’s armor that the lawman was wearing.
|
I have no idea how well known the film Once Were Warriors is outside of NZ and Australia, but the idea that the lead character in that (played by Temuera) ended up being cloned for the Clone Troopers always made me think that they should have conquered the entire galaxy with ease...
|
I don't understand why he doesn't use his jetpack more. Riding speeder bikes and getting surrounded by enemies, just jetpack out of trouble and use it to get where you need to go. :)

My guess is fuel ... unless its like a small cold fusion reactor back there |

My first thought as well. Well, my second thought. My first thought was what Mizzou said - why the hell doesn't he use that thing more?!? |

Dude is rich, keep that thing fueled up. :D |
There's a baby Yoda fan(s) in space.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Jango and Boba Fett? |
Boba Fett is just fan service. I doubt they'll kill him in this property, but there's a good reason they're using him.
|
Another very good episode. Really enjoying this season. Such a good feel.
|
Agree it was a good episode and appreciate a couple familiar characters from last season.
Great scene with Mando & baby Yoda trying to fix the ship. Baby Yoday swiping the blue macaroons (and later accident). Storm troopers need remedial shooting practice for sure. Saw Mando drink under his mask. Really like how they introduced the lab mystery. So now we have the trip to Ahsoka Tano, more eventually with Bo-Katan, Moff Gideon & dark saber, and the lab mystery. |
The Storm Troopers must not get military training, they just run out into the open without any cover whatsoever.
|
I watched the Leeds-Arsenal match this weekend with my daughters. Leeds (wearing white) had about a dozen shots in the first half, many of which were great opportunities, but kicked almost all of them them over or around the goal. At some point, my younger daughter looked at me and said, "These guys shoot like storm troopers."
Very proud moment in parenting. |
That's when you know you raised them right

Congrats. Unfortunately, my college kids couldn't give a flip about Star Wars. |
This season of The Mandalorian is kicking arse. This last episode with Ahsoka Tano was amazing and somehow they are masterfully tying in the Prequels, the original trilogy, the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series, as well as tying in things from books and video games. Ultimate fan service TV show. By using all of the previous work as source material, this feels like a lived-in universe.

Another great episode. Learning more and more about baby Yoda. I like the dueling scenes at the end.

Well.....if you wanted to start from a Chronological Timeline, this is the best way to watch all of them if you have the time and patience to do this: Quote:
I have removed all the references to the show "The Resistance" as that was basically a kid's show that is canon but adds no value and really has only loose references to the movies. "Forces of Destiny" episodes are just short videos (3 to 5 minutes) that flesh out and actually add value to some of the events surrounding it. All the above is available to watch on Disney Plus. *T* = Television *M* = Movies Clone Wars episodes are in this format: Season (1st digit), Episode (Last 2 digits) |
Quote:
Thanks. I'll start with the Clone Wars and then Star Wars Rebels. |

Rosario Dawson is so underrated as an actress. She absolutely nailed Ahsoka Tano. Best episode of the season to this point and arguably the best in the series (though I'd have to rewatch Season 1 before I could say that definitively).

I never found her all that interesting in the various Marvel stuff, but I did think she was really good in this episode. |
My only objection to Episode 5 was realizing how old Michael Biehn has gotten. He was one of my Top 5 favorite actors from the mid-80s to mid-90s.

THANK YOU for this list!!! I watched Rogue One last night, which was awesome and now I'm going back over the stuff I have missed out on. |

I didn't even realize that that was him. |

This seems like a good path. I need to catch up too. |

I think I still give the nod to the prison break episode from Season 1, but this one was excellent, and right up there. |
Quote:
Had to look him up ... oh yeah, Hicks (and Paxton) in Aliens. Also as Johnny Ringo vs Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday. |
If you haven't watched yesterday's episode of Mando, then what are you waiting for?
It was another highlight reel episode. At one point I said, "this rivals the end scene of Rogue One." |
Quote:
I enjoyed it plus the intro of the new character. However, I detested the fight scene. It's as if the storm troopers didn't learn the basics of taking cover and trying to out flank ... it was like the charge of the light brigade. |
Quote:
It was awesome! Love it! |
Quote:
Stormtroopers are gonna Stormtroop. Bad aim, poor tactics, it’s just how they roll. |
The last two episodes have been phenomenal.
|
Yeah this last episode was directed by Robert Rodriguez. I thoroughly enjoyed it and this show makes the Star Wars universe much more lived in.
|
Another episode that hit the mark. What more is there to say? It's a top notch show, and probably the best thing on TV in 2020.
|
Great show.
This episode had some cool hand-to-hand combat. And first time I've recall seeing imperial troops "die" vs just shot in their armor. Not sure I get the last scene. Not a great tactical move but provided the dramatic end to the episode. |
I agree. Great episode, but the ending. Really?

I've been reading there's going to be a lot of other SW shows coming up. Slightly worried they may overdue it with quantity. But considering the success of Mandalorian, have hopes they will do it well. The Disney acquisition of the SW franchise and building theme parks were a fantastic bet. Honestly, I thought SW was dying a slow death and Disney has really revived it. |
Pretty good season finale and especially the last 10 min.
Wonder how the dark saber thing will play out. The spear fight (both of them) was pretty cool. The face touching was a good scene. The new person ... have to google on it :) |
I'll just say "tornado DDT" and leave it at that.
(cause the only reason I know that was a thing was cause I saw an article) |

The ending with the Jedi felt like a callback to the end of Rogue One with Darth Vader annihilating people instead of droids.
|
Quote:
Absolutely. We got to experience the old school power of a kick ass jedi the way we were told it was in the original trilogy. We felt like we lost a bit not seeing Luke dominate in RotJ, and we felt like we lost a lot more not seeing him do bigger things in the most recent trilogy. This was that same feeling from Rogue One, the very same and it was glorious. Loved the whole season. Very very good. |

Okay if you are talking about the cantina scene, I will just say that person was in a previous episode so not really new. As far as the episode was concerned, I believe this capped off what I think is one of the best seasons out of any Star Wars TV series (so basically in comparison to any of the animated series). I thought Season 7 of Clone Wars was going to be hard to beat, but I believe this season of The Mandolorian topped that as a whole. I really, really hope the other Disney Plus Star Wars content will be at this level. |
Had to look up how they did the Jedi. An actor + CGI.
Wife and I were wondering if they had a look-alike. |
Awesome episode. Up there with some of the best Game of Thrones episodes as far as high quality production and quality.
If anyone missed it, there was a post credits scene. I think we are all going to be drunk with Star Wars and Marvel content over the next few years. |
Quote:
We did miss it, thanks for the heads up. Missus and I are going to re-watch s2 soon so I can cancel Disney until s3 comes out. |
Okay, now that everyone has had a day to watch it, some additional notes:

That was awesome. The moment I realized who must be flying the X-wing was thrilling. “That’s Luke!” |
Wow, I just finished the last episode and I have real tears running down my face. Of course happy tears but this one was awesome.
Fantastic season.... |
Bye, Gina.

This is the way.

Another solid episode on Boba this week. Not a lot of action but the "training" was fantastic.
|
Except the last 2 episodes did not have Boba Fett. Maybe they should rename it to the short story of Boba Fett and friends.
|
last couple episodes without the old guy holding his helmet have been great.
Also Cad Bane=Awesome Hopefully they break out Rengar, Bossk and all the other bounty hunters from Vader's ship in ESB(assuming they aren't dead). |
Agreed. The last two episodes have been great.
|
I had managed to completely destroy any interest I had in this show after the first 3 or 4 episodes of this show, but you bastards are going to pull me back in!
|
Makes we want to watch the Clone Wars show to see more Cad Bane. If only Anakin was bearable.
|
there's a good bad batch episode with both Cad Bane and a super young Fennec Shand
|
Season finale was okay but not as good as previous 2 episodes.
Last scene was fun. |
Mandalorian new season is out.
Prob going to wait until more episodes are out before renewing Disney+. But then again, wife may not want to wait that long. |
Bad Batch is a good watch. Tales of the Jedi was as well.
|
Caught up on s3 episodes.
3.1 and 3.2 were fun. 3.3 was WTF. I don't mind a tangent, it was interesting on the amnesty and the characters. But the amount of time spent on it seem unnecessary, should have Din & Grogu interspersed in there vs beginning/end. We'll see how this plays out |
Quote:
I just caught up, too. They've done this type of thing before, where there is a tangental storyline. I was just assuming that the character that did the backstabbing is still working for Moff Gideon and his escaping imprisonment will be a storyline going forward? I would think we will see Mando and MG mix it up again before the end of this season. |
My wife hated it. I would consider her to be a "casual" type of viewer. She loves Grogu, and so an exceptionally long detour away from that was annoying. I appreciate the lore a bit more, but this could have been told in smaller chunks over a few episodes and been less intrusive.
|
3.4 was okay, happy to pivot back to the Mandalorian.
I like the jetpacks but think they are overdid it in 3.4. The flying special effects seem awkward (?). They looked hokey and was distracting for me. Liked the additional backstory to Grogu. And hope we see the new foundlings more. |
Yeah, it was cool to see a tiny bit of Order 66 unfold in live action, we've only seen it in animated form previously.
|
The new Mandalorian planet…..sucks
There’s a great Clone Wars episode that’s set when Ashouka is on a starship right as order 66 happens. Worth searching out. Might be the finale. |
This is pretty cool:
