Werewolf Xtreme III --- Game Over (Result in Post 434)
Hi all,
Since there isn't a game currently running, I thought I'd offer to run one, with a format that has produced some creative gameplay in the past. Essentially it is a basic small game format with the exception that roles are not revealed upon death, other than to the priest who can scan a dead player to learn their role. Game 1 in that format: Werewolf CXVIIIb XTreme - WOLVES WIN - Front Office Football Central Game 2 in that format: Small game - Return of Werewolf Xtreme (Game over! Result in Post 401) - Front Office Football Central Good Roles: Seer - Each night receives a vision of a target player as 'wolf' or 'not wolf.' The seer receives a vision on Night 0 of one randomly chosen player that is 'not wolf.' Thereafter, the seer chooses which player to view. Priest - Each night receives a vision of a target deceased player. The vision tells the priest that deceased player's exact role. The priest must choose one deceased player to view. Hunter - If only two players remain in the game and the hunter is one of those players, then the good team wins even if the other player is a werewolf. 3 Villagers - Ordinary villagers with no special powers. Evil Roles: 2 Werewolves - The werewolves know each other's identity, and may private message/chat without restriction. Each night the wolves choose one target player to kill. Sorcerer - Each night receives a vision of a target player as 'seer' or 'not seer.' The sorcerer receives a vision on Night 0 of one randomly chosen player that is 'not seer.' Thereafter, the sorcerer chooses which player to view. The sorcerer wins if the wolves win, but counts as a villager for victory purposes. The Sorcerer does not know the wolves and the wolves do not know the Sorcerer. Victory Conditions: Good - All good players win if all werewolves are eliminated, or if the last two players remaining are the hunter and one werewolf. The sorcerer does not have to be eliminated in order for Good to win. Evil - All evil players win if the wolves achieve parity: if at any time the number of wolves remaining equals the number of non-wolves remaining (including the sorcerer), evil wins. However, if one wolf is left with the hunter, then good wins. The sorcerer counts as a 'non-wolf' for these purposes. DEADLINES 10 pm EST - Voting deadline. Any votes marked 10:01 or later will not count. 10:30 pm EST - Dawn deadline. Any night actions must be submitted by 10:30. THE BASICS Editing: Yes, you can edit posts, with two stipulations: a. Please only edit posts within 5 minutes of the original post time for formatting / spelling / grammar. b. You cannot edit a post with a vote in it. No quoting of private messages. No discussion of the game outside the thread. (out of game players or dead players are free to speculate in the speculation forum: General WW discussion) Any player inactive for 36 hours will be replaced. VOTING Every day the village votes for who they wish to lynch. The player who receives the most votes by day's end will be killed. In order to vote, please post your vote in bold and on a separate line. You may change your vote at any time before the deadline by posting an unvote and then a new vote, both in bold. Example: Lathum is a wolf. VOTE Lathum Wait, I mean hoopsguy is a wolf. UNVOTE VOTE hoopsguy Special Voting Rules: You may not self-vote or vote No Lynch. Tie votes will be resolved by whichever candidate has the longest held vote on them. Nightfall: Players may choose to make a Nightfall vote to lock in their vote and end the day early. Nightfall votes must be unanimous and will still be dependent on my availability. Once you vote with Nightfall, your vote is locked and cannot be changed. REVEAL Roles will not be revealed upon lynch or upon night kill. Only the Priest will have knowledge about the allegiance or role of any of the dead. Sign Ups 1. timmae 2. RendeR 3. CrimsonFox 4. Telle 5. Autumn - Night killed Day 1 6. britrock88 - Lynched Day 1 7. mauchow / EagleFan - Night killed Day 2 8. The Jackal 9. Coffee Warlord - Lynched Day 2 Alternates: 1. 2. |

Looks great. I ran that first game, and I hardly remember it!
Count me in. |

|
In. Thanks for the message JAG
|
Thanks for joining all.
I've reached out to some other folks to see if we can fill the last couple spots. If that happens before Monday, I will send out roles Sunday evening with a Day 1 deadline of Monday August 10th 10pm EST. |
Oh hello, thanks for the ping JAG -- I'll give it a go!
|
Weekend schedule?
|
Quote:
No weekend schedule planned. Current plan is for the game to start on Monday, ending by Thursday at the latest. |
FUCK IT. I'M BACK BOYS.
|
That's the spirit! Alright, we are full, anyone else who is interested can be added to the alternates list in case we need a replacement and we'll get this going Sunday evening.
|
vote coffee warlord!!
Game on! |
I'll add my name to the replacement list.
|
vote Telle
Just warming up in case I'm needed... :D |
This is a great group of players, glad to see you all again!
|
Quote:
Awe, aren't you sweet :) |
Roles have gone out. Day 1 has started, with the deadline at Monday at 10pm EST. Villagers without a role received the following message:
Quote:
Please remember, roles are not revealed upon death. If you are lynched or night killed, please do not post in the thread. I tried to highlight other rules that may be less familiar in the first post with underlines or bold. For those that have them, I can accept night orders at any time through the Monday 10:30pm EST Night 1 deadline, I will run the latest night order I receive from you. Good luck everyone, have a great game! |
Checking in. Whee!
|
Last time I played WW I was in Central time. Gotta remember it's 2 hours now.
MURDER DEATH KIL...I mean, innocence and happiness! |
Game on! This should be fun!!
|
Dangit, I'm not ready for this game to start! I'm not done making my database that'll replace my spreadsheets yet
|
Vote Telle
Someone always has to break the ice. :) And I have a VERY good reason this time! I don't trust people with spreadsheets. They are the tools of Lucifer. And probably wolves too. But definitely Satan. |
Quote:
But I'm replacing the spreadsheets! With a database! Databases are WAY cooler :) |
And when you have a database, I'll unvote you!
Do you HAVE a database now? :) |
I have database with tables for games, players, players in games, and votes in games. I plan to add roles, actions other than votes (not applicable to every game), and notes but what I have now is functional.
I can query the tables easily enough through straight SQL, but building the web interface is taking some time. I want it to spit out reports that will replace all the copy-paste I used to do from the spreadsheets. |
Ok, I need a second row of vote data to test with, soooo.....
VOTE Coffee Warlord |
Yes folks, you read it hear first. My wife is a computer dork......
|
I prefer the term "data geek", thank you very much.
|
Semantics.
pot, kettle..... Lipstick on a pig.....err....maybe thats not the best analogy.... |
*grabs his blanket and prepares the couch....*
|
vote telle
|
vote telle
Whoops. |
|
so...how do I do this?
vote telle am i doing this right? |
vote render
he needs the player experience |
Monday has arrived! Who is evil?!
Our max mis-lynches are 2 I think. Hoping with this player set everyone is going to be active and involved. It should make for a better village effort methinks. |
Voting as of post 39:
3 Telle - Coffee Warlord (25), timmae (35), CrimsonFox (37) 1 Coffee Warlord - Telle (29) CF - Vote for RendeR in post 38 was not valid as there was no line for an unvote, therefore the Telle vote stands. As a reminder, you don't have to format it as Unvote [player], just a line for 'Unvote' will remove your prior vote. |
Welcome all. I will join the fun by voting for a former rival who hasn't shown up yet, just to be sure he comes in hot.
vote The Jackal |
This is definitely a tricky rule set for villagers. I skimmed back through the first game we played with this and the wolves won partly by going after each other early. So note to selves: don't give anyone too much credit for anything.
|
The only credit I'll give is for unrest in the Telle/Render household this week! Ha!! Wait, unless they are both wolves. How fun would that be!
Yep, there can be a little extra cover with this group and ruleset. There are a few N0 peeks so we do have some info already which hopefully will become unearthed much later in the game. |
Sure it's 2 failed votes and not 3?
7 - 2 start (the sorcerer counts as a villager for counting purposes). Two villagers die day/night 1: 5 - 2 Two villagers die day/night 2: 3 - 2 Third botched vote would end it, unless I'm not thinking clearly. |
Quote:
 re-acquainting myself with the smilies FOFC offers and there's no fireball, unfortunate |
Quote:
I feel like there was another version we played where the seer nailed wolves with their first two scans and dominated it, though I've played so many rule sets I could be mis-remembering |
Quote:
Yeah, I think 3rd mis lynch could be end game. Just something to remember and track I guess. |
so we're at 3-1-1 or 2-1-1-1 if CF meant to unvote?
vote RendeR |
Just saying this now... if you are inactive then I will likely vote for you. Unless there is definite evil to vote on instead. Inactives bit me at the murder hotel and not gonna let that happen again.
|
Quote:
mau is the only one not to "check in", yes? Although we obviously want to see more from people than just checking in |
I feel like day 1 vote movement, albeit rife with randomness, is particularly interesting in small games. There's a pretty solid chance that at least 1 wolf will be involved in the voting at some point today if not both
|
That's my thought exactly... check-in and then showing up late tonight isn't gonna do it for me.
|
Should probably mention - my kids go to bed right around voting deadline. If I'm not around then, that's why.
|
Voting as of post 53:
3 Telle - Coffee Warlord (25), timmae (35), CrimsonFox (37) 1 Coffee Warlord - Telle (29) 1 The Jackal - Autumn (41) 1 RendeR - The Jackal (48) |
Quote:
Nah, the only time I get pissed at him for WW stuff is when he can't keep his mouth shut about the game. Would be interesting to both be wolves sometime. Although since the moderator is generally supposed to be included in PMs, I'm not sure how we'd invite him into any pillow chat... |
The awesomeness that is my database-driven werewolf website can currently produce this kind of report:
Day 1 Coffee Warlord voted for Telle in post 25 Telle voted for Coffee Warlord in post 29 timmae voted for Telle in post 35 CrimsonFox voted for Telle in post 37 Autumn voted for The Jackal in post 41 The Jackal voted for RendeR in post 48 This evening's task will be making it give me a per-player vote count for anyone that currently has a vote on them. |
Think we need a mau and a brit.
|
Nice work Telle! A few days out this will be fun assessing where votes have shifted. We'll need our seer and priest to survive a bit and get us some intel to be able to piece some things together.
|
unvote
vote render Awake from your nap wolfie! |
Quote:
Shit, I forgot I still have to finish the unvote feature in my system! I started adding that in last night but eventually decided I should quit geeking out and get my butt to bed. |
Crickets.
|
Timmae turns it from a 3-1-1-1 to a 2-2-1-1. I think that's a fairly villager move. And the only point of interest so far ;-) Evening things out this early is good. Though picking Render and therefore keeping it between our WW couple maybe takes advantage of an existing "rivalry" in a way that can be counterproductive.
|
i'M NOT INACTIVE!
|
I work nights is all and my sleep schedule is screwy =)
|
Day 1

I'll be around a bit. I go to work at 9 so I'll def be around for deadline. I am withholding my vote for self preservation if needed.
I have nothing to go on to vote for any of you cretins yet, so I will bide my time. |
So you're saying ... you do your work ... at night ... when the moon is out?
HUH. :) |
Currently tied, but telle has the oldest vote, so she wins* the tie break
* if getting lynched is a win....I guess... |
Quote:
I Do! but I only work indoors. The moon is irrelevant. |
Quote:
How is that a fairly villager move?? Thats a classic *I voted for my wolf partner to throw off suspicion and am now moving to vote a villager off* move. Timmae earns a suspicion point. |
Tell me, do you often find yourself going to the window, looking up, and, perhaps, howling?
On a more game-related note ... looks like we're still missing brit and mau. Everyone else has at least said something. |
Quote:
More like a vampire.. shunning any sign of daylight |
Quote:
Turth.....I DID actually watch Twilight last night.... |
Quote:
Britrock was very hit or miss in our last game due to work related issues. |
Voting as of post 74:
2 Telle - Coffee Warlord (25), CrimsonFox (37) 2 RendeR - The Jackal (48), timmae (59) 1 Coffee Warlord - Telle (29) 1 The Jackal - Autumn (41) |
I'm always torn with people who say nothing on d1. They're asking for attention, but on the other hand, what if they're genuinely busy and have an important role?
|
I will say it again... inactives screwed us last game. I have no problem voting off someone inactive. Having said that, I think my Render vote may be ok. He pushed me hard last time he was a baddie and hasn't done any active hunting or investigation today.
|
So who among us has played one of these kinds of games before? Any insights that'll help?
With no reveal upon death we'll have no way of knowing how the votes went until the Seer or Priest out themselves. And we have to hope we don't accidentally vote either one and that they both survive night kills. Three botched votes ends the game in favor of the wolves, and each botched vote increases the odds that we hit the See or Priest with the next one. Should the Priest and Seer stay quiet until Day 3 and then reveal all they know? Or should the Priest come out Day 2 and the Seer Day 3? I'm leaning towards the latter because I want to know more sooner and not cross my fingers that we don't fuck up Day 3 but I'm not sure if that's the smart move or not. Thoughts? |

There is also a defined mechanism that replaces anyone inactive for 36 hours. So if we don't vote off the inactive people today then they'll be replaced tomorrow. Also more likely that the inactive players are not wolves since if they are then their fellow wolf is going to be PM'ing them like mad to make them realize the game is happening; a regular villager just got their original PM and if they missed that then nobody's going to sending more messages trying to get their attention. |
Ok, not real sure how the double-post happened. Regardless, I'm stepping away for a bit to get my walk done before it's dark.
|
Hmmm...awfully quiet an hour before deadline. Don't exactly like that when my neck is on the chopping block!
|
I am thinking priest coming out D2 and Seer D3 makes sense. Need to maximize our knowledge.
I get what you are saying about inactives on D1 but it is just as easy to not do anything and try to skate by. Then D2 they pull the whoops card and buy another day. I am ok with letting them sit today but tomorrow they would need to show up big time or be gone. For what it is worth I am reading telle and jackal as good this game. My axis of evil is render, crimson and coffee. I could easily go for a coffee train. Neutral on autumn and nothing on brit or mau. |
Having said all of that they are just mainly gut reads right now. Lets hope we hit a wolf.
|
Well thanks for your gut-led vote of confidence, timmae. Of course if you're a wolf then you know I'm a villager, so you could just be blowing smoke to get in my good graces.
My problem is that I'm the very first vote-getter, so I lose any ties unless Coffee decides to go elsewhere. I can self-defense vote for Render, but then he'll do the same and I die. I need more movement to survive. |
30 minutes to deadline.
|
UNVOTE VOTE RendeR |
Pure self defense... My wife is an asshole, she was hoping I'd forget to come back LOL.....
VOTE TELLE Again, I know nothing, this is day 1 and its my neck on the line here. |
It's been a good marriage thus far, I was willing to risk being an ass ;)
|
The lack of anciety with these votes makes me think we got this all wrong. Brit and mau better have a good excuse.
|
Anybody else care to chime in here? I really prefer not dying! I'm just a vanilla villager though so at least we won't take out one of the roled villagers. This still sucks though :(
|
So... lets go brit or mau, eh?
|
Quote:
Oh there's anxiety all right.. I was just really hoping that people would get more talkative and I could swing some votes. But talking to myself doesn't do shit. |
Quote:
If we get lucky and nab a wolf day 1, I would suggest they come out and let us know who they are because we then have a distinct advantage and it narrows down the hunted group right away. If we fuck up then they have to stay quiet because we're a;ready at a huge disadvantage. |
Well, VV is better than risking a special. Darn inactives.
|
quiet deadlines usually aren't a great sign, I would expect a more impassioned defense from a wolf in a very small game, a fake reveal, whatever it might be. not hearing from half nearly the group in 5+ hours or at all today is a bummer as well
|
Quote:
I'm happy to vote for anyone that leads to my neck coming off the chopping block. However I don't know that there's enough people in the thread right now to swing things. |
Quote:
there are enough of us here to do so if we wanted to, seems like |
I'm certainly willing to shift if others do, I have nothing against anyone, so moving to an inactive is no big deal but we have to do so soon and as my neck is on the line I won't be the first one moving...
|

Then pick one. I'm running out of time. |
