No, the limitation is only for each participant. So with 12 participants, that means 24 people from one country could potentially be picked.

No restirctions at all. It'll be up to you to make your case to the voters.

If you want to make Bush a scientist or Clinton an athlete, then by all means go ahead.

I mean, I'm open to suggestions. That's not a hard coded rule. I just wanted to add something in there to encourage variety of selections.

For instance, if we needed to increase that to 4 per country, or say half the picks have to be pre-20th century and half post-20th century. Give me your ideas.

FWIW - My thought is that the draft is too wide open, not too restrictive. I would eliminate a country if he's picked. Or, if you're worried about limiting TOO much, then I would say two times in the entire draft a country can be picked.

Or like you said limit on time periods. Something. To me part of what these drafts were built on were interesting restrictions that make it hard to come up with picks in the later rounds, rather than picking things that could have been good picks in round 2 (like the movie draft).

Okay, how about one per country per category? So if someone picks Lincoln as ruler, then no one else could pick another American in that category, but they could still pick say, Babe Ruth, as athlete.

increase it to 4 per country in the entire draft and say half of a players picks have to be pre 1850!

How do you count a person who is born in one country but did their thing in another?

How are older regions/kingdoms/empires going to count?

i know this is a people driven draft, but how about adding some geography? maybe a natural beauty and a man made icon.

That's a good question. My initial thought is that when the pick is made, then you have to declare a modern country that the pick is being used for, and it should be a country that was part of (or located in) whatever empire the person did their thing in.

And it could be up to the voters to judge if a person was picked for the right country, as long as the person does have some connection to the country. For example, we had the history draft and Joe Louis was picked for the 60s or something like that. I wouldn't forbid such a pick, but leave it up to the voters to do the punishment.

You declare the modern country that it would qualify for. If an empire covers more than one country, you have to pick one of the countries.

And to clarify further, I understand the 1 country / category rule, BUT, can a single player use the same country twice?

Yes, you could theoretically end up with 12 people from the same country, although it's highly unlikely.

Im willing to flip flop draft picks but I want your 3 and 7th to go with it....

It's always nice to send in a list just in case. Sometimes a potential run can be missed by someone being gone for 45 minutes. If you know your top 2 or 3 for sure, no harm in sending it to larry. If you really need to see what other people pick, then I guess it's harder to justify.

I was actually thinking of drafting a Pirate themed nation with Henry Morgan and the Sargasso Sea and Blackbeard and such. It would have been funny, but porbably not in the spirit of the draft.

Is there any greater or more well-known fighter pilot in the history of the world than The Red Baron? Certainly the best in World War I, with a confirmed 80 victories during the campaign and he showed leadership ability by commanding the famous Flying Circus. So masterful an air warrior, he was even highly respected and admired by the opposing Allies.

You know what I had him as a pick but I figured I was safe with that until the third round at least because leaders were in vogue. Good pick.
