Goal Line Blitz MMORPG

Looks interesting. It is a football MMORPG and it seems that you can play as either an owner or a player. I've just signed up and the first thing you do is create a player.

larrymcg421 is a team owner of the Grand Junction Silverbacks in the USA AA Western Conference. If you sign up with the link below then he will get extra points for referals.
http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=537895

21C 03-21-2008 09:10 PM

I just found out that I can earn points in the game by refering people to join.

Edited link above for new signups.

21C 03-21-2008 09:21 PM

OK. I've created myself as a CB, allocated my skill points and it seems like a lot of the other settings were already randomly created.

I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing but I received some contract offers from CPU teams. I accepted one from the Buenos Aires Marlins in the South America AAA (Zeta Conference). I think you can sign for a human-controlled but I didn't want to wait.

Yellow5 03-21-2008 10:00 PM

Signed up as an RB, named Johnny Thunder. Playing for the Minsk Legion in the Eastern Europe Pro League, Alpha Conference.

sabotai 03-21-2008 10:22 PM

Signed up as LB Sabotai Bagatur. I'm on the Peterborough Miners in the Canadian AAA league.

Crim 03-21-2008 10:35 PM

Crim Bronco, LB. Make me an offer I like, and I'll be your Lewis, your Urlacher, yer freakin Butkus fer the next several years. I'll fill yer damn stadium, I'll get ya a few trophies, and I'll bang yer daughter. You won't care bout that last bit, though, cuz I'll be improving your gene pool in the process. Call me, bitches. My agent is waiting.

Crim 03-21-2008 10:37 PM

Uh, unless, of course, none of y'all bastiches is signing up to be an owner. I'll wait a day or so, if none of you are owners (and have invited me), I'll sign with an NPC team as well.

JetsIn06 03-21-2008 10:37 PM

Ryan Omark, LB. I'm on some computer team, but it would be sweet if we could get an FOFC team running.

hawk4669 03-21-2008 10:39 PM

Hawk McGawk playing TE.

Cheers!

Cork 03-21-2008 10:39 PM

I am in as Jake Weston, CB for the Dusseldorf Wolves of the Western Europe AAA league, Zeta conference.

-Cork

Eaglesfan27 03-21-2008 10:46 PM

Randall McManus, FA QB for now. I'll sign with a CPU team in a day or so if I don't get another offer.

Izulde 03-21-2008 10:47 PM

QB Tim Moungey playing for the Geelong Wildcats in the Oceania Pro League, Alpha Conference.

It's the team where I have the best shot at becoming the starter the soonest.

FBPro 03-21-2008 10:54 PM

QB-Biff Chuckington looking for a team.

QuikSand 03-21-2008 10:54 PM

DE Michael Szur, Medicine Hat Bucks, Canadian AAA.

QuikSand 03-21-2008 10:58 PM

In case you missed it...

Admin Announcement

For players who are on CPU teams and want to get to a human team: Human managers can now make contract offers directly to you instead of having to trade for you. You will get a message in your inbox if you get an offer.

Thanks for your understanding with this beta game. We are working hard to improve the game every day.

Seems like no harm in signing up with a CPU team for now, getting some experience, and then hopefully getting a team together at some point.

rjolley 03-21-2008 11:09 PM

Sam Jolley, LB, Utrecht Extreme

Izulde 03-21-2008 11:14 PM

Tied game! But Mays just fouled out. :(

21C 03-21-2008 11:19 PM

I think human owners need 1000 points to get a team. All we need is someone to get a team and then sign all of us.

kurtism 03-21-2008 11:20 PM

SS DJ McGilvery created. Playing for Saipan Fighters, Oceanic AAA, Zeta Div.

Alan T 03-21-2008 11:21 PM

Alan T, massive run stopping NT

MrDNA 03-22-2008 12:02 AM

jaygr 03-22-2008 12:05 AM

RB Joey Flabbus, Bogor Gulls, Southeast Asia AAA

SirFozzie 03-22-2008 12:07 AM

WR Alex Donovan, Auckland Panthers

JetsIn06 03-22-2008 12:12 AM

Okay, I think the best thing to do is have whoever wants to own the team put their referral link here. That will give them 850 points, which is pretty close to the 1000 needed to buy a team.

JHandley 03-22-2008 12:13 AM

Roger Duhnam

6'3" and 198lbs of blazing speed at wideout. Currently contracted with the Sherbrook Cheetahs of the Canadian Pro league. We're 1-4, but I am starting and we have two human controlled QB's. So I like my chances of improving.

Radii 03-22-2008 12:26 AM

looks like the only way to gain points is to either get refferals or buy them. So hopefully we all used 21C's referral and he'll have a ton of points :D

I am Idjit Kicker, K, La Plata Whales
South America AAA (Alpha Conference)

Shkspr 03-22-2008 12:29 AM

Pork Chop Steinberg was signed today by the Papeete Legion, a 6'6" possession receiver. He'd be a tight end if he could get above 180 lbs. soaking wet. Few training tables are kosher, however.

Eating is not a problem for new San Cristobal Puma Slats McCoy, a 323 lb. offensive guard who is playing football for revenge. "My father was killed by a nose tackle," said the 6'3" McCoy, "and I won't take a play off until I find the guy." Early reports that all teams in GLB will play the 4-3 have not dissuaded the vengeful son. "Sooner or later, the bastard that murdered my father will find himself on a team that uses the 3-4 once the formation is unveiled later in the beta test, and he won't be able to resist lining up over the ball. They always return to the scene of the crime, you know."

Bad-example 03-22-2008 12:34 AM

Funyun Johnson, OT

dbd1963 03-22-2008 12:39 AM

Tank Basterson, QB Odessa Fire. Scheduled to start!

This looks like it will be fun..

TazFTW 03-22-2008 12:42 AM

FS DeMarcus Lott is playing for the Red Deer Pirates in Canadian AA Western Conference.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 12:45 AM

Okay, I just bought a team. The Colorado Spring Snakes in the USA AA Western Conference. We're allowed a one time name change.

Any ideas for a city and mascot?

MikeVic 03-22-2008 12:48 AM

FS Semi Truck (ironic name as he's a cover guy), a 5'11" 185 lbs. player of football has signed a 1-year contract with the La Paz Gangsters of the AAA South American league.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 12:48 AM

Ok, I've equipped my "+4 Jockstrap of Fortitude." I'm ready to roll.

MikeVic 03-22-2008 12:49 AM

Our starting TE is LeBron James. :D http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=27463

21C 03-22-2008 12:52 AM

I don't know how many points you earn for referals. It says that up to 850 points can be earned in a season which makes it sound like you might get something like 50 per person. It also says "the users you refer must create a player and play for a couple of days before you will receive the points." As it is, there are 5 people who used the referal link.

The only other way that I can see to get the points is to buy them. 1000 points can bought for $8.50 and gets you 2 seasons - about 80 real days.

I just found the points earned for referals in the FAQ:
How many Flex Points can I get through referrals?
You can earn up to 850 per season. The referral breakdown is as follows:

50 points per referral for the first 10 referrals.
25 points per referralfor the second 10 referrals
10 points per referralfor the final 10 referrals.

Referrals in excess of 30 will not earn you more points.

MikeVic 03-22-2008 12:53 AM

So we're never gonna get skill points, and we can only play for one season?

Yeah I went ahead and just did the $8.50 option for 2 seasons. If I thought about it sooner, I wouldn't have created a player and could have got 3 seasons, but I'm assuming I can earn enough by then.

Does that mean you want to start signing/trading for all of us?

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 12:56 AM

I don't think we're limited by cities, so how about something like "FOFC Simmers"

Yeah, as soon as I decide on the team name.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 12:58 AM

How about you put the team in Jim's (the owner of Solecismic) hometown? Though I can't remember what that is..

No, you get skill points through leveling up.

And you play for as many seasons as you want, I imagine.

Owner thing is different from player thing.

No problem. I'm guessing you want us to PM you in the game instead of searching for each one of us.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 01:07 AM

Either way. Shouldn't be hard to find you guys.

21C 03-22-2008 01:08 AM

I would suggest that Larry post his referal link here so that any new players that sign up give him the extra points. That might buy some extra seasons as team owner. If you like, I can also edit the first post to include it.

FBPro 03-22-2008 01:09 AM

Biff Chuckington signs with Quito Lions and is penciled is as the starting QB.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 01:11 AM

Since it fits the region and I really like the name, I'll go with my WOOF team name.

Grand Junction Silverbacks.

I'll start offering contracts. We are currently 3-2 (best record in the highest USA Div. that had an available team).

Crim 03-22-2008 01:12 AM

LB Crim Bronco is on the Wroclaw Thrashers. Come and get me, larry!

dbd1963 03-22-2008 01:25 AM

I just read a post on the forum that advises paying your players enough so that they can train. Training costs go up with levels, so players should not sign long term contracts for little money.

It's a sticky in the "Players looking for teams" forum:

Quote:

After seeing a lot of guys sign long term contracts for minimal pay. I'm not going to point out names, or where, but I have seen a player signed long term for a really bad salary. I know there is a thread like this in TD, but this is for people who haven't seen played a game like CD or GLB before, where contracts mean a lot of things.

Here's the way training costs work in GLB.
Intense: 200 * level = cost per day
Normal: 75 * level = cost per day
Relaxed: 10 * level = cost per day.

Training is not dependent on player position. Everyone pays using the same formula, whether they are a QB or OT.

So basically, if the player, who can survive up until about level 2 or 3 on their current contract hits level 6 or 7, uh oh! Watch out, they can't improve as well! Instead, no more intense training unless they want to lose money. Now toss in the fact that they are signed for a really long time. Some managers will re-negotiate. Some will not because they say you agreed to the contract. So make sure the contract you sign is really what you want.

Originally posted by Statmonkey of TD

1. Check the forums to see if the offer is competitive
2. How long is the contract for can you live with the terms
3. Research the team - do they need you? Will you get playing time?
4. Find the manager and the team thread. Are they active? Do they have the same ideas as you?
5. Talk with the manager. What are his plans for you? Is his personality compatible? someone you can talk to?
6. Talk to current members of the team. Are they happy? do they like playing there?
7. Put all this together and decide if you like it

I quoted Statmonkey with slight modification basically because it all comes down to these 7. You can also check the rosters of other teams in the same league to see what is the norm.

Jed PMed this to me last season when discussing the contracts for his team this season. Several other teams follow the same principle.
Take how many levels you think your guy will be at the end of the season. Most of the time players won't be training at intense because of cost and energy issues, so Normal will be used.
So if level 15, it will be 1125 per day (75 * 15) . This means players will still make money over the course of the season when they are at a lower level, which allows them to buy any of the new things Bort is planning to add in the future like cars, houses and whatnot.

3ric 03-22-2008 01:33 AM

I'm Chris Whizz, a CB... just signed up and am unemployed (hint, hint)

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 01:36 AM

Okay, I'm offering contracts right now. Not sure what the numbers should look like, but I'm basically offering everyone a bit of a raise with a bit of a signing bonus. I'm also cutting the expensive CPU players, especially the ones duplicated at positions FOFC'ers will be taking.

CB Richard Southwell is signed on.

I see a potential dynasty thread in all of this.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 01:40 AM

Why not buy a team too, 21C? There's going to be a lot of folks playing this, I predict..

Sorry I didn't hit your referral. See, what had happened was.. I didn't think I was going to play until I went and read about it, then I forgot.. You know you're in my heart for finding the game, though, right?

Radii 03-22-2008 01:44 AM

we have too many QBs it looks like for one team! looks like you're sutck with me kicking for now though ;)

Yellow5 03-22-2008 01:49 AM

Just accepted my offer. I'm a power back so make sure we have someone speedy. I also have a kicker named Alexander Thunder if we need another kicker.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 02:05 AM

Start improving your players as best you can. Looks like we'll have some interesting position battles.

If you don't want to worry about being a backup, then create someone at a position that hasn't been taken yet. I guarantee an FOFC'er gets a starting spot over any CPU player.

Izulde 03-22-2008 02:09 AM

Signed on and I intend to be Grand Junction's starting QB.

JHandley 03-22-2008 02:10 AM

I accepted the offer.

Based on what points we were able to allocate, I think my speed is fairly decent for a starting player, so I'm working on catching now.

I bribed the programmers.

EDIT: I'm only partly being a smart ass. You can buy points to spend on your player. It cost me about $12 for all the upgrades I got. You can only get so much each season though.

MikeVic 03-22-2008 11:49 AM

You have to worry about salaries and all that right? So I don't think you would sign every FOFCer created. Say we have 4 QBs... I think you'd sign at most 3 of them?

Ben E Lou 03-22-2008 12:03 PM

I'd suggest letting Larry figure out if he can afford to sign most/all of the FOFCers first. It turns out that I had some cash sitting in my PayPal account, so I went ahead and bought some flex points with it. I have enough to buy a team if it's needed.

Ben E Lou 03-22-2008 12:04 PM

Dola: So as a result, CB Ben Lewis is now Level 4. :D

DanGarion 03-22-2008 12:09 PM

Kicker, Daniel Schoonover at your service. With all the upgrades a rookie can have.

twothree 03-22-2008 12:59 PM

T Maple Syrup created. (Level 4)

He was a guard, but I noticed you already had two human guards signed. So, I retired him, and created a right side run blocking tackle instead.

Edit: I took a contract with the CPU team, New Hampshire Mustangs (USA, A, Eastern), since they have a game today in about an hour. And, I figure I can earn some experience points while waiting for a contract offer from the Grand Junction Silverbacks. The CPU team put me in as their starting LT.

My back (Joey Flabbus) was built as a powerback as well. I noticed you have him at lvl 4 (so I assuming you bought some points) so I don't mind starting a new guy before we get too involved if we would not want two power guys, although I prefer to be one. I'd still rather do what is best for the team though.

What do you guys think?

hawk4669 03-22-2008 01:48 PM

Just signed my contract with Grand Junction and bought some new equipment. Hope to be a solid blocking TE first with a later emphasis on good hands. Who needs speed, etc. ;)

Cheers!

I do have enough money to sign most everyone, but it's true that it doesn't make sense to sign 5 QB's.

We do have an excess of QB's, LB's, Kickers and WR's. It might be a good idea to start another team so some people aren't stuck as backups.

I'll list the initial starting lineup tonight.

The team we were going to play, Sacramento United, was bought and has become the Hawaii Five Os. They have already signed some better players too.

If you want to scout them, go here:

From what I understand, none of us are going to have the stamina to play a whole game. I've been trawling the forums all morning and I've learned that a lot of people will put most of their skill points into stamina because that will keep them in the games, allowing them to gain valuable experience. I've read that at level 4 you want to have a stamina at least in the 20 range. My guy has a 17 or so. There's no way he's going to play a whole game no matter what.

5 QBs would seem to be pushing it, though. None of the players would get the amount of experience you want.
