TCY: Connecticut Huskies
With Jim's new release, something I've been waiting on for awhile now, I am now going to start my duel-TCY/FOF dynasty. But, since TCY starts a few years before FOF (2004 vs 2006), that presents a bit of a problem. If the pro game starts sooner, I can just use game generated drafts until the TCY drafts become available, but with the college game starting sooner, I can't do that.
As a result, I basically "quick simmed" the first two years of TCY and will just start in 2006. And with that, I present the 2006 Connecticut Huskies. (But first, the rules) House Rules for recruiting 1) I can only recruit 3 Black recruits per season. 2) I can only recruit 6 Red recruits per season. 3) I can only recruit 10 Blue recruits per season. I can recruit as many Green recruits as I can. 4) My school cares about its academic image, therefore the min. SAT score for a recruit is 1100 and the min. GPA is 2.75 5) I can only recruit from Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. For every winning season, I can expand that by one state. 6) No bribing. |

My Short Term Plan
To improve on the defense and offensive lines. I plan to run a conservative offense built around protecting the QB, quick passes and simple run. On defense, I want to build a dominating defense that is feared throughout college football. For the next 2-3 years, I'll be focusing most of my limited picks on going after defensive players. My Long Term Plan Obviously, build a winning football program. The type of offense I want to develope, though, is a ball control, smashmouth/quick passing game. Eventually I'll need to go after RBs that can really pound the ball. For QBs, I'm looking mostly for Avoid Interceptions and Third Down Passing. |

On the third play of our next drive, QB Lincoln Koenig tucks the ball on a draw and scores from 15 yards out, giving us the win. In his return game, Koenig had a great game. On third and 5 on Buffalo's next drive, Stokes comes up with a huge sack to kill the drive (his only sack of the game, but a timely one). We get the ball back and go on a nice, time-consuming drive and kick the game winning FG with just 38 seconds left to play. Benton had a great day on the ground, rushing for 173 yards on 23 carries. RB Randy Badillo - 22/65 Still have Patton and Benton, so no rush on this guy. Some good potential, but he's not much of a power runner. TE Greg Mullis - 12/50 Good potential. Will be the starter one day. TE Rondell Farley - 11/23 Will be Mullis' back up G Blaine Cherry - 0/23 Looks to have good potential, despite the Scout Overview rating. G Lewis Farrell - 13/55 Another guard with some decent potential. T Mitchell Vance - 19/54 Huge potential (again, despite the scout overview rating). T Robbie Grande - 10/62 Another good potential tackle. I'm pretty deep in the OL, so I can easily reshirt all of these linemen. P Warren Lazetti - 28/34 Kind of struck out with this guy. Red shirted since I may be down to just him as far as punters go in a year or two, so I want to keep him around as a safety net. ILB Lee Ellard - 21/99 Could be twice the ILB for me that Drake is now. Run Defense is his weakest area with a potential of 71. But that's around where Drake is now. Since I have O'Bryan backing up Drake, I can easily red-shirt this player. He's going to be the cornerstone of my defense for years to come. CB Mitch Brinkman - 11/22 Won't amount to much. CB Kurt Bishop - 12/82 Another player that looks like he could become quite a monster for me. Has a potential in Man-To-Man of 96. While I have a lot of corners, all of them are mediocre. I toyed with the idea of starting him as a true freshman, but his actuals are pretty low. This guy is all potential. S B.J. Cook - 15/67 Looks like he could develop into a decent Strong Safety. |

This one snuck up on me as not once during the season did I get a warning that he was failing. Up'ed his study hall, gave him a few blocks at the start of the season. I need this guy. DE Donnell Chesser - 16/50 One of my primary backups. S Dale Preston - 51/55 Another guy I can't afford to go without. My starting Strong Safety. Had 59 tackles, 22 Assists, 2 INTs, and he was mostly potential last year. Now he's about half filled out and I really needed him. |

2008 Recruiting Plan
1-5 Scale. 1 = Not concearned, 5 = Badly need Quarterback = 4 Migliore is adequate, but I could very much use a reliable QB. Running Back = 2 Badillo looks like he will develop into a good back. But, I would like to have a steady flow of RBs coming into the program. I've not had good luck with RBs and injuries. Full Back = 2 Hudson only has two years left, but Junior Diehl looks like he will be able to take the role when Hudson moves on. Tight End = 1 I have plenty of Tight Ends, and red-shirted Mullis will be a very good TE in years to come. Wide Receiver = 4 Ackerman....Ackerman, Ackerman, Ackerman. I need more than just 1 WR. Another good one will be very nice. Center = 1 Parrish still has 3 years, plus Basso has a lot of potential. Guard = 1 Lots of depth at the guard position. Will be a good year or two before I need to get more. Tackle = 1 Just like the guard position, I've gotten plenty of them over the last two years and will not have to worry for awhile. Defensive End = 2 Stokes and Jackson have 3 years left, but I'm lacking depth. Defensive Tackle = 5 Kaplan is decent, but I have no depth and I need a second. Kaplan only has 2 years left. Inside Linebacker = 1 Drake, O'Bryan, Ellard. I'm good. I may consider switching to the 3-4. Outside Linebacker = 2 Several really good players, one potential monster, but in a year or two, depth may be lacking so I might take a shot or two at some OLBs this year. Cornerback = 4 Bishop will be great, but the rest of them are average. I'm going to need more corners. Safety = 2 As long as I get Preston back next year, I should be pretty safe here. Punter/Kicker = 5 A great Punter or Kicker is not common. Always have to be on the lookout for one. |

2008 List of Recruits
We managed to snage 4 of our 6 Red Recruits, however they were all scouted in the 60s. I managed to get a pretty decent recruiting class, but no stars like ILB Ellard last season. Still, I'm lacking depth in a lot of places, so hopefully this helps out a lot. One good sign for my program is that one of the recruits that I got who was rated in the 60s was a Green Recruit.
