Have spots for 15 players, I'd really like to keep FOFC history going and get guys who were active in Godzilla Blitz's (wonder what happened to him, don't see him round here no more) X-Com dynasty, but it's open to all.

I would like to join in, but I have been dissapointed every time I have played, save the first time. I fear that my lack of internet access during normal business hours may be a hinderance.

The X-Com I remember is where you searched an alien crash site by moving about 10 spaces and firing at the aliens. That's going back a few years though.

That's the one -- but there was so much more to it than that. One of my all-time favorite games...definitely in the top five.

The situation:

Every year, X-Com agents gather at bases all across the world, remembering their friends and family members, lost in battles all over the world, and some even on other worlds. It's the 10th anniversary of the "Salvation of Mankind" (how folks publically refer to the battle of Cydonia).

This year.. something went wrong.

The 15 of you entered X-Com base Global-4.. and something happened. You were going through the command center, when alarms shattered the air with harsh shrieks.

The computer, long since needing repair, reported. "Ectoplasmic sources detected in base. Per Base Invasion Protocols, shutting down major voice access to terminal. Shutting blast doors! There are 4 sources of Ectoplasmics in base command center. Cannot open armory unless sources of Ectoplasmic material are located and/or neutralized.

You eye each other nervously. No Aliens had been reported for a good.. well.. the last known alien event was soon after the Cydonia battle. Only a few stragglers had survived the battle and soon were hunted down by XCom and civilian vengeance seekers.

But now, according to the base sensors.. aliens not only have returned, but are amongst you once more. You can't tell who they are.. but the situation is not good. You're locked into one section of the base (although there are rooms for you all). The computer reports that per base protocols, one person per day is to be voted on and the person voted on will be immediately targeted by the base's weaponry. After each night, you will be able to tell if you have neutralized one of the EctoPlasmic sources, the computer will keep track.

So as you head into the first night of your extended stay at Global-4.. you wonder what has happened in your orderly life.

(There will be no kill in Night 0, the Enemy Forces need time to organize. All those with Night actions, PM's due by Friday Night at 8 PM EDT)

Major Peregrine chews on the stub of a blackened cigar, spitting out his words. His left sleeve is empty, lost to an alien rocket attack. He's gained a few pounds in the last few years since he's retired from service, but still seems fit and just as determined.

"Pretty clear what we need to do here, people. Have the computer terminate us all now. It's the only way to be sure, we can't have those damn aliens prowling around again in our bodies. Think of the havoc they'd cause!"

That's exactly what an alien would say...but I won't rush to judgment yet. :)

As an X-com vet and survivor of GB's dynasty, I will be reading with interest. Luckily for you guys that means I won't be able to make any plans. :)

Reporting for duty with a heavy heart - I remember having to turn our weapons on our own men more than a few times back during the war.

Is there a science geek among us who might be able to shed some light on our new foe? Or just us gun-toting soldiers this time around?

Probably not any more than any other wolf/creature/alien/whatever. Or the guy who concocts the plan that ends up with all the other good guys killed.

I guess I'm looking forward to bagging me some ectoplasm; as unhappy as it is to be looking to turn my weapons on my fellow vets, it's somehow fitting to be back in a situation where my only goal is my own survival.

Roles will be revealed only when obvious, in certain cirumstances. There may be hints to rolls. There is a person who can figure out the roles of the dead.

Relatively little chatter with no 'lynching' on Day 1. We all know this is going to be a crapshoot again. :( Let's hope that we lynch ourselves a fucking alien tommorow!

Well, now, maybe I'm assuming wrong... I was figuring that if the problem reaches a point where we can't handle it ourselves, we all get fragged. But if that's not right, then obviously I give priority to the human race; I'd gladly sacrifice myself to save my fellow men and women.

The dynasty was such a good idea, and I'm stoked that GB took it over, because he did a much better job than I would ever have been able to do.

Ok.. just need a couple more night actions (if you have a viewer role, now would be a good time to do it) and we can get started on the first official day.)

There's a bit of flaw in SirFozzie back story. If the aliens win then in the end they will be destoryed by base weaponry

you're assuming that the aliens don't have a plan to disable it, but without weapons and with numbers against them... :D

Tech Fouts checking in. I really didn't want to attend this reunion, so many memories of war and death, and it is starting all over again. For now, I'll take a look at the computers and see if there's anything I can do.

You come out of your room warily.. hoping against hope that it was just a glitch in the system....

But sadly.. the computer repeats its assessment of FOUR ectoplasmic sources in the base and you know what you have to do.

By the end of the day, one of your number will be blasted.. and all you can do is hope it's not you.

Since we have folks out this weekend, I will allow until 8 PM sunday for votes to be blasted.

Hmmm....four out of fifteen of us are aliens. The odds are against a haphazard vote, so we'd better choose wisely. I'll be watching what you guys say closely, and I reserve the right to pounce on something out of place. :)

I'm curious about how the aliens win - if they each have the ability to maul us over one night then we will be dead quickly unless we are exceptionally efficient in rooting them out.

11 vs 4 - Day one, we miss, 10 vs 4
10 v 4 - Night one, they all kill one, 6 vs 4
6 v 4 - Day two, we get one, 6 vs 3
6 v 3 - Night two, they all kill one, 3 vs 3

I have to believe that we are being laid better odds than this - I'm very curious how this shakes out the first night.

Anyone have any general theories on who to hunt? It seems that a number of people have gone with the "quiet = evil" theory, but that hasn't held up very well in the couple of werewolf games I have observed.

The first day is tough because we don't have much to go on.

Way too much of an equalizer if the aliens can all kill during the night.

I don't think the aliens would all be able to kill during the night. I haven't played X-Com, so I wouldn't know. All I can think of is Aliens or Star Frontiers (the D&D Outer Space game). I agree the first day is tough, especially since the odds are against us getting lucky. It's hard to throw a suspect out there due to "quietness" since it's Friday night and the weekend is coming up...then again, that's the perfect cover for being quiet.

So the aliens kill one per night, and we kill one per night(can anyone kill in the day?), so were looking at this game lasting(at worst circumstances) 8 days until the 1 alien left wins...am i looking at that right? And is there any other way for people to die im missing?

Aliens kill 0-1 during the day (depending on the defense roles)
All blast 1 during the day.

There ARE other ways to die/etcetera.

By the way, ties will be handled very quickly. The NEXT person to vote (if they haven't already voted) or switches their vote after the deadline breaks it. We will use forum timing (tricky, I know) to determine the next vote.

I've learned my lesson about shooting first and asking questions later. I'll be interested to see if we can do better than luck with our first shot.

One way we could do this, have the aliens surrender :p Becuase Blade is on a booty call, shit!! I mean a alien hunt!! I like humans, I swear it!!! :D
