And Kiper was giving McShay such a hard time about McShay not being sold on Clausen's ability or him being picked in the first half of the first round... Now McShay is plenty of an idiot in his own right, but you think by now Kiper would have learned that his opinion isn't the end all be all, and not always shared by NFL scouts and coaches.

New England will still get Kindle or Dan Williams. Jerry Hughes might be worth a look, too.

I don't think you can be too unhappy with getting one of those two + adding picks.

Kiper has a seriously inflated opinion of himself and his opinions and he's uber-judgmental. It's annoying and I hope he dies.

Dan Williams??

The last thing we need is another fucking NT. Enough with the defensive lineman...god.:rant:

So you are saying you won't yell at a 4 year old calling across a busy street for Mel Kiper?

k0ruptr 04-22-2010 09:17 PM

nice pick for Zona.

Noop 04-22-2010 09:17 PM

DAMN MAN I really wanted Dan Williams in Miami.

DaddyTorgo 04-22-2010 09:18 PM

PHEW

At least we can't end up with Williams now.

true

Swaggs 04-22-2010 09:18 PM

Damn... When did Arizona become such a competently run franchise? :)

DaddyTorgo 04-22-2010 09:19 PM

here comes the Pats trading out of the first round

Tigercat 04-22-2010 09:20 PM

Its weird to have to wait this long for the Saints to make their pick and not be able to blame Mike Ditka for it.

Solecismic 04-22-2010 09:20 PM

I'd be fine with Kindle. Happy even. Odrick's the best value here, but LB is a bigger need.

gstelmack 04-22-2010 09:20 PM

Well, I take back part of what I said earlier. Merriweather and Mayo have been the Pats last two first round picks. Not much else from those drafts, and the jury is out on last year where they had no first, although Edelman was a nice late-round pick. But the trade-down strategy last year will take a season or two to know for sure:

well I guess I don't have to be disappointed the Cards took a LB now...

When they infused their team with so many Steelers. :)

Ronnie Dobbs2 04-22-2010 09:21 PM

Devin McCourty

DaddyTorgo 04-22-2010 09:22 PM

i think last year's draft will end up looking okay...it's just...i dunno...not really fun to watch when your team is making 12 picks in the 4th round of guys you've never heard of ya know?

TroyF 04-22-2010 09:22 PM

Well, I guess we'll see. I'd be lying if I said I liked the pick, the trade to get the pick or that we really needed another QB.

On the other side of it. . . this will be the defining move of McDaniels tenure in Denver. If it fails, he's gone in two years. If it works, we have a QB who is a hard worker and likely won't hold out for big contracts or screw twenty year olds in public restrooms. (note I said likely, who the hell knows for sure)

The difference between the Raiders and the Broncos is that this is all the head coach doing it. If he doesn't get it right, Bowlen will find someone he thinks can get it right. Rather than draft the fastest available idiot twenty years in a row.

+1 after the Marshall trade, but it's better than him going to the Patriots.

Solecismic 04-22-2010 09:22 PM

They're saying McCourty.

Cringer 04-22-2010 09:23 PM

Glad to hear Packer's Gm Thompson publicly say he doesn't like the change to the draft. I am not a big fan of this so far.

But not a fat chick in the group it is like they cloned a bunch smoking hot broads.

k0ruptr 04-22-2010 09:24 PM

over wilson? hmm...

Swaggs 04-22-2010 09:24 PM

Props to Rutgers if it is McCourty.

If I am not mistaken, last season (Kenny Britt) was their first ever first rounder. Now they have two more. :)

DaddyTorgo 04-22-2010 09:24 PM

who the fuck is he? WTF???

They are college girls from Florida.

DaddyTorgo 04-22-2010 09:25 PM

yeah...that was really worth all that trading down and leaving those other guys on the board (or so it seems).

One was a 50 year old freshman then.

Solecismic 04-22-2010 09:26 PM

He'll nickel this year, return punts, dominate on special teams. In 2011, he should be a decent #2 corner. I'm OK with this.

I just don't see any reason to get 12 picks.

Yep that surprised me too. That said, I did have McCourty with a late first grade.

As opposed to say Kindle who could be a starting OLB this year?

quantity over quality hoping you hit on at least one of them?

And in two more years we can send him to Philly for a pair of fifths like we did with our last return man / special teams / #2 corner after a season player (Hobbs).

He needs to turn into a very good cover man (which the Pats could really use) for this pick to be worth it.

The idea is that he's a little bit faster. They really liked this kid.

k0ruptr 04-22-2010 09:30 PM

solid solid pick by the phins.

Yeah he is annoying. This guy never played any organized sports I bet yet he is a expert:)

Noop 04-22-2010 09:31 PM

I feel like George Constanza right now with this garbage pick by Miami.

Raiders Army 546
ShadowJack 514

Tebow is gay.

miked 04-22-2010 09:33 PM

Even better, now the Jets can get Kindle? It's like double awesomeness, the Pats get a guy projected to go in the early 2nd and the Jets get the pick they should have made. J-E-T-S...

McCourty sucks. But he did run a 4.38 and returns punts. I'm told that picks don't matter in college...whatever, he had like 5 in 4 years.

Solecismic 04-22-2010 09:33 PM

Price to the Jets?

Izulde 04-22-2010 09:35 PM

Odrick's a pretty good pick, though I'd rather we drafted Kindle.

Swaggs 04-22-2010 09:35 PM

BTW... looking back on it, just how fucking crazy is it that the Raiders took Sebastian Janikowski (a freaking punter!!!) w/ the 17 overall pick ten-years ago? :)

Swaggs 04-22-2010 09:36 PM

and I guess he was actually one of their best first rounders of the decade.
