Meh. I think there were better US choices. Kissinger, for example

I don't think so... a lot of math and science comes from the ancient Egyptians. Just saying...

ntndeacon 05-13-2009 04:09 PM

my reason for picking him was basically he stopped a war. The Russo Japanese war was stopped due to his diplomacy and earned him a Nobel Peace Prize in the midst.

+1

I was debating between Bismarck and Kissinger.

Abe Sargent 05-13-2009 04:12 PM

I was going to take Kissinger if Marco Polo had been taken.

Lathum 05-13-2009 04:13 PM

I'm ready once Galaril goes.

God help him if he steals my pick

Lathum 05-13-2009 04:22 PM

so there's nothing worse then when you have a pick, and you are amazed it fell and there is one guy ahead of you and he takes forever.

Galaril 05-13-2009 04:23 PM

3.11 Ben Franklin, Scientist - America, Pre 20th Century

It can always be worse.
He could take it.

Abe Sargent 05-13-2009 04:23 PM

Yup, totally agree

Noop 05-13-2009 04:24 PM

I think Lathum's choice was taken.

Galaril 05-13-2009 04:25 PM

:)

Lathum 05-13-2009 04:25 PM

I like the Ben Franklin pick but I would have put him as diplomat.

I think taking Einstein not as American was a mistake. It allowed a good scientist to hit the board from America, and this is the consequence.

Agreed. I was surprised he wasn't taken as American.

Izulde 05-13-2009 04:27 PM

I thought about JPJ, but I didn't know if he actually did anything or whether it was just the one fight.

Lathum 05-13-2009 04:27 PM

didnt we already go over this

ntndeacon 05-13-2009 04:29 PM

I am sure you meant U.K Latham as Scotland is not a country.

Barkeep49 05-13-2009 04:29 PM

I like Franklin as a scientist, but agree with those who suggest he makes a better diplomat.

Lathum 05-13-2009 04:30 PM

I thought there was some ruling about this last night that made it Scotland

Like Karl Marx, I think he does double duty and is a good pick, especially with the American bias in the voters.

Barkeep49 05-13-2009 04:31 PM

Frankly I considered Nimitz as my American Navy presence, being 20th century and all.

Abe Sargent 05-13-2009 04:32 PM

Okay Galaril - amaze us!

Yup

Abe Sargent 05-13-2009 04:33 PM

I fear we would have 10 or 12 founding fathers on the list and there was not that much talent there, but we revere them. Luckily, we've largely stayed away. I would've shot someone for taking Washington as their army chief, for example.

Galaril 05-13-2009 04:34 PM

One minute.

Abe Sargent 05-13-2009 04:35 PM

larry - do we have a ruling on Scotland for Wallace?

Galaril 05-13-2009 04:37 PM

4.2 John Stewart Mills, England, Civil Rights Leader/Father of Utilitarianism - Pre 20th Century

Abe Sargent 05-13-2009 04:38 PM

Damn Galaril, cockblocked my pick in round 4
