Oddly enough, yes, that works. I'd kill to have that on a poster; I'd hang that in my house.

DaddyTorgo 12-03-2009 12:59 PM

I'm sure you will easily be able to locate one of him eating ice cream and wearing his granny glasses though...

Cheers was such a great show- still watchable even today. Probably will still be able to watch it in 50 years, I bet. So much universal humor that is timeless as opposed to cheap, modern humor that no one will even get in 20 years.

So, I take a break for a couple of months and people forget about the 1st post on a page convention in these threads? I mean, I'm not even a big stickler for stuff like this, but I'm surprised by the complete lack of outcry. Where is the FOFC I know?

DataKing 12-03-2009 01:27 PM

My favorite Norm-ism. "It's a dog eat dog world, and I'm wearing Milkbone underwear." :D

I guess we all assumed Pumpy's post was supposed to fulfill that requirement. :D

Your post setting must be different than mine. I went back and specifically quoted Subby's Brazil chick because my post was the first one on the page.

Not bragging, but they're pretty much in my backyard (if my backyard were like 1/2 mile away). I'm really scared of water, but I get on a boat every once in a while to see them in the San Juans. Lots of people here kayak to see them, but I think they're insane.

well if i get out there you+me+lathum will have to go out and see them!!

not that insane - there have been lots of documented cases of orcas helping sailors adrift at sea and such. for whatever reason they seem to be naturally intelligent enough not to consider us prey (although that doesn't mean they couldn't accidently snap your kayak in 2)

If you're a decent kayaker, that's the best way to see them up close. There's always a minor risk they might tip you, but it's a low risk, and it's extremely unlikely they'd do anything intentional to hurt you.

MikeVic 12-03-2009 07:30 PM

Can I come see the whales in Schmidty's backyard?

I did some kayaking in the Everglades and Gulf, had dolphins come up and play with our boats for like half a day. It was wicked cool.

I think so. Probably a little photoshop touch-up, and the right leg looks a little weird, but still an awesome pic IMO.

Pumpy Tudors 12-04-2009 01:54 PM

You mean bowling balls don't really blush?

I can't even imagine what kinds of hands would comfortably fit those bowling balls in the "blushing bowling ball" picture. Huge span, tiny holes. I guess E.T. could use them, but that's about it. Maybe Katharine Hepburn right before she croaked. But besides that, no.

Apparently it was fooling people who drove by. There were some rescue attempts. From the email it came in:

"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever.Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."
